Virgin Media Retention thread

Hi All.
Personally I think I am being screwed by Virgin Media.
As it stands I have Virgin Broadband and TV, I have the normal samsung box in my bedroom and a v+ box in the living room and we only have 2mb broadband and Medium package TV i think, it might be L anyway its as follows:
Add Set Box(es) Discount -£10.00
1 Additional V Box £15.00
Broadband Size:M £18.00
TVSize: L £11.50
V+ Box - £15.00
BB & TV Bundle Saving £-7.50
Payment Handeling Charge - £5.00
E Bill Discount £-1.00.
The standard price for BB M should be £9 pm now so even your £7.50 BB discount does not bring it down to what it should be BEFORE being discounted, you should be able to get a further £4.50 pm off the £9 BB figure.
I think you are being screwed and you should read my posts above in this thread about making a formal complaint to OFCOM about Virgin charging customers 2 different standard rates (before discount) for BB M.0 -
You can save £5 per month straight away by paying by direct debit.
It's worth calling up as you might be better off with the XL TV package and get some better discounts.
i asked about this as i was offered a futher saving of a pound a month for e billing i thought whoppeeee!!!! e billing saving and dd saving but nooothey arent ginving us a saving anymore for the dd.

I thought from your post you were being charged £5 for payment handling. That is not paying by direct debit.
I have eBilling too, so that's a £1 saving for that - every little helps - plus at least now I get my bills on time, not two weeks late, but as I pay by DD I don't pay the £5 payment handling charge. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
sorry if my post was confusing, now i'm confused!
the £5 i was talking about is what they wanted to charge me amonth for haveing a standard box in my bedroom, in adition to the v+ in front room. but now i am having a v+ xl in bedroom and front room, no extra cost a month, just have to pay £30 per box installation.

just to keep everyone updated regarding my claim for money back from virgin, i wrote them a letter and they replied saying they would call us within 7 days. well they called today, have been told that overpaid money will not be refunded to me, and that the 'standard price' of £9 is only for new customers taking another product, i told her we had the phone, but she said no. just seen that new standard bb m without phone is £17. makes me angry how companies rip you off. will speak to ofcom on monday, and see what they suggest.0

The standard price with a phone is £9. Bottomline is they have two different levels of standard charges for exactly the same service,
*New customers, BB & phone (BB=£4.50 discounted for 12 months then BB = £9, phone = £11)
*Old customers, BB & phone (BB=£18, phone = £11)
Just depends on whether they have you in their "keep net" (Nationwide advert reference) already or if you are a new customer.
Everyone can understand a temporary discounted rate for new customers, for a special offer period. But the rate that it reverts to should be the rate that all other customers are getting in the 'keep net'.
Without calling the new package a new name like "The Virgin Orange service" I don't see how they can or should be allowed to get away with it.0 -

So I think there is room for a bigger discount on your package.0 -
Followup to our current £20.49 package.
I will go back through the thread but any guidance on what I should be looking at for the upgrade to V+ box and HD services.
Don't need to keep the current box, and happy with the M-TV as long as we don't lose or end up paying for the on-demand we seem to have currently.0 -

I think they've bumped my broadband cost up from nearly free to 18 quid & it's only 2mb. I would like to haggle a better deal but want to keep skysports and don't really want to sign up for another 12 months, just keep it rolling .... Any ideas ?
I'm a virgin mobile customer aswell so they should wanna keep me, shouldn't they ?
Any advice gratefully received !
Thanks, Tim0
