Just rang Virgin and they said as we get the -£24.00 Loyalty Pack we have to pay £18 for our BB M!

Without more info from your bills I can't comment. What they might might be saying is something like this...

Because you get as part of your discount a BB discount of £9 and a further BB discount of £4.50 totaling £13.50 it stands to reason that they keep your basic BB rate @ £18 This is what they do on my account, and on the face of it it does make sense, because they can't give a discount of £13.50 off a basic rate of £9.

The problem arises when your offer finishes they revert your BB rate to £18 the old rate not the new rate of £9.

What I would argue is that this makes no sense at all and everyones basic rate should be reduced to the new basic rate of £9. and everyone who is receiving a discount of £9 should have that discount removed from their bill as a consequence. And retain their additional discount of £4.50
  • Hiya all iam after some advice our virgin media bb and home phone contract is near the end we currently pay £25 per month for 2mb bb and all time local calls.

you should get a discount.for £20 a month i'm getting the 10meg bb and free calls-and freeview telly that doesn't really count.been with them ( diamond cable then ntl) for about 11/12 years now and been dealing with retentions for 3.
  • alright mate i got offered 10mb bb and all calls for £28 how did u get £20 !

dunno really.originally ( few years back) they matched the Talk Talk offer of £20 and while that lasted ages they suddenly stopped giving me the offer.the last offer they gave me cost me £24 and this time round i got £20 cos i'd moaned at them abt bb problems.i do have to ring back in December so i'll see what i can come up with before i ring them.i've rung them for sis and my mam ( who don't have the nerve) and got good deals as well.i do my homework on what prices are available elsewhere.i ring up and am really cheeky and chatty-also i try and mask the fact that i'm after summat.if you're new to the game then practice what you're gonna say beforehand and eventually it'll just be like making a normal fone call.you get a real buzz afterwards.jus go for it
  • I've paid £54.50 per month, for XL TV and XL BB (my contract expires in January. What sort of discount could I try and barter for realistically?

i don't know anybody with you're package so i personally wouldn't av a clue what you could pay but that is a LOT of dosh you're paying out.checkout what other people are paying in this thread and over in the Home fones board (it's not a sticky but there is one).check what the competitors can offer you and write it all down-and decide what you want to pay.it's upto you but with a contract coming to an end i personally think you'd be a better position leaving it rather than ringing now ( i've read that some have got discounts within the first year) .make sure you get the person's name when you ring up cos you'd be surprised what stories they come up with-i've heard of guys requesting a confirmation email.they might try and tell you that if you want Sky then you'll need a BT line, that not everybody can get the free BB and that the speeds won't be as good as their's.when it comes to the time when they give you a figure even if you're happy with it and you're cheeky enough i would still ask for more-if you don't ask you don't get.they can only say no.

Still no calls from Virgin, due to be disconnected 12th Oct.

Ringing 150 and heading for `cancel` etc only ever leads to CS, not retentions.

Also, 0800 number found on here no longer works, recorded message gives a 0845 number which takes you to the same options as dialling 150.

Anyone recently been chased by `retentions`?
Are they still called that, or something different?
Anyone used a direct dial number to reach retentions recently?

    Thanks in advance.

I need the retentions number too.

Which number is everybody using here? Neither 0800 052 0870 or 0800 073 0591 gets through anymore. Have they changed it?

Don't want to speak to the monkeys in customer services!
