    Hi All
Having gone through retentions and receiving and accepting a new offer of,
    XL TV
    V+HD (no activation)
    BB L (20 MB)
    PHONE inc line rental
    talk evening & weekends

£44.50 (I have this in writing via email)

The contract has arrived and shows a monthly price of £48.90
+ in the box for other items /charges, it indicates that there is a activation charge of £49.95.
After a call to cs they inform me that this is in fact the only way they can show it on the contract and that it will be discounted at the bill to compensate.
My question is if anyone else has had a contract like this or is it another fast one from VM.

The only way that would work is if they are going to credit your account elsewhere - I doubt the £49.99 would be credited - that sounds very suspect for me (and pointless too as the £49.99 is the same for ht eV+ as it is the TiVo so almost worth going for that instead.

I'd be cautious of that £4.50 difference too - the contract should reflect the accurate price of the deal, expecially as VM retensions say they cannot apply the old manually applied monthly discounts...

    Hi Visidigi
Having spoken to cs again they assure me that they will credit the account £4.50 each month and i've just checked my online account and the 4.50 credit is there even though it's not due for install until october and they also assure me that the £49.95 activation has been waved ,they also said that they were still able to manually apply monthly discounts via retentions as this was there only option available to them due to software limitations (ie they are unable to discount screen prices without a manual discount ).
So all sounds good ,but i will reserve judgement until my first bill arrives after the install.

good deal !!! what were you on previously? Any what did you have to say for them to give you that deal?
  • I've got VM HD+ box plus additional activated VM HD box
    XL Broadband
    XL Phone
    XL TV

6 month deal has just expired & I'm now paying £72 a month & have 12 months of my contract left.

Any advice for me? I plan phoning every month to see if they can give me a deal however they still hold all the aces as I'm contracted to them for another year.

Interesting, they've said the exact opposite to me of late, along with two other peole I've been helping to secure a better deal (work colleagues)

The only thing left which I would advise caution on is the manual discounts, if still viable are only valid for 12 months usually, your phone contract is 18 months...

I wouldn't hold your breath the 18th month contracts were cheap for the first 6 months for a reason - VM generally won't reduce your deal as the initial contract price was based X revenue over the 18 months...
  • Hi Visidigi
Actually my phone contract is 12 months as specified on the contract as this was a stipulation of me staying with them.
You are right with the 12 month manual discount as in my first post it will then rise to £48.90 for the next 12 months...

The outgoing retentions chap I spoke to gave me a 0203 number to call them back on but when I call it answers within a couple of rings then just goes dead - anyone got a direct number for them that works? I did try the standard 150 / 0845 number and went through to retentions that way but they've increased the cost of the deal the other retention guy offered by £8 a month so that's a non-starter so looks like I need to get to the outgoing retentions team

djm71 - I had the same issue. Called them, got one deal, called back again and got a worse deal at a more expensive price! Will try again later...

How did you get on with them?
