quidco cahback is not a guarantee and should never be factored into a deal, its a bonus - VM obviously cant and wont compete with a cashback deal with an existing customer - these are used to entice new customers on board.

Does the £43 a month include the £13.90 line rental? If so good deal, if not, hmmm would push them again.

I to am interested in the activiation fee. Most of the stuff I've seen recently refers to an activation fee for TIVO. I don't want TIVO just a V+ box which the website seems to say I've already got but I defaintely don't. I'll be ringing them in the next couple of days, will let you know how I get on.

Yes 43 includes the line rental as I'm an existing customer, I wasmt sure whether to go down the cancellation route to see if I can push for more though? It may be risky but even so I have no issues actually cancelling and leaving for sky as I prefer their tv and services such as sky go and sky Atlantic etc

You might get a little more, but then again you sound happy to go to Sky - I was until I read all the fine print, especially the bit where you MUST have a BT/Sky phone line for anytime etc.

An Atlantic isn't as good as it looks - the devil is very much in the detail with Sky, look at the latest adds, price freeze till next year except call charges, admin charges etc.

Detail is important when looking at Sky.

care to explain what tactic was used for free activation? You're the first i've heard of getting one free activations, let alone two...I'd be cautious of those contract lengths too, phone is a standard 18mo no matter what they may say on the phone (found this out the hard way...)
OK just called it is free VHD not V+HD

Yeah VHD is free, both V+ and TIVO is £49.99 - which is Ironic as VM staff say this is to encourage TIVO take up versus V+...there was me thinking things are more tempting when they are free :D

I've got a disconnection date rapidly approaching - best deal I've had so far is:

    XL BB
    XL TV
    M Phone
    Tivo - £50 activation

for £42 a month. Is that likely to be as good as I can get, reading back a few pages it seems others have had better deals.

It wasn't price that led me to leave in the first place but the lousy service (broadband down 3 times in last month including 2 days that was their fault as the cut through my connection at the junction box, phone down twice in last couple of months too). However If I can get the cost down further a few quid I might be tempted to stay. They haven't called back again to up this offer and the disconnection date is looming, any advice please?

That bundle tips in at £59.90 as a new customer per month - I would say £42 is a fair discount for what you are actually getting - unless of course that £42 is plus line rental?

I wouldn't expect you would get much more off that bundle price - but in saying that, try a different tact - see if they will offer you compensation for the poor service you have had over the past couple of months (unless you have already had some) - this compensation credit would be applied to your account and would offset the cost of the TiVo activation a bit...I was recently offered £25 for being flat out lied to by CS with me having proof...

Eeeeeek I’m starting to panic a bit.

I have been with Virgin for 3 years and at the moment I have L Broadband, M Phone and M TV with 2 boxes £39.

Called up last night to “cancel”. Told them I was moving to Talk Talk as they are offering landline and broadband for £19 ish, so effectively I was paying £20 for freeview (Medium TV is sooooooo bad!) which I couldn’t justify.

The guy I spoke to said all he could offer me was an upgrade to M+ TV and a box upgrade to an HD Box for £36 a month. TBH I was tempted to just take this offer, but my problem is this….

He said I would have to take out another 12 month contract and I explained that I couldn’t do this as there is a good chance I might be moving in with my boyfriend around March next year, and obviously Virgin can’t guarantee they will be able to provide cabled services to wherever we move to, so I don’t want to be stuck paying for 5 months when I can’t use their services.

He said that he cannot make me an offer without a 12 month contract. I said to go ahead with the cancellation and was given a date (23rd September). Will retentions call me up and make me an offer, without a 12 month contract? Obviously I wouldn’t expect the offer to be as decent as if I DID sign up for another year.

If they don’t can I cancel the cancellation? I really don’t want to lose my Virgin services!

    Simply answer is no.

Virgin won't offer you a deal unless you commit to them for a minimum of 12 months unless you are a significant spender - the problem is for you to get now as a new customer what you are using would be way more expensive.

They have offered you the best they can on in bound retentions, outbound retentions may offer better, but they would expect a contract minimum of 12 months.

The whole idea of a discount is based on 12 months income of X for X - by not putting you in a contract virgin cant count on your income in the deal.

Yes you can call to cancel the cancellation within the 30 day period from the point at which you indicate you wish to commence cancellation.
