XL PHONE
Costing 54.62.
Had a call to my wife today offering to reduce our bill by £5.00 my wife asked them to ring back when I am home. I'll NOT be taking that offer up. Any ideas what I should get it down to?
Thanks
DJ Flame
I pay £43.55 for:
20MB broadband
XL TV
XL phone
250 minutes of international calls.
I earlier wrote £46.55 for the package but seems I get a £3 credit each month.0 -
well got the call in the end @ 6pm
staying on the same package
10mb BB
phone line with free evening and weekend calls
£18 a month, quite happy with that0 -
Finally got my retentions call
Previously had:
V+ box
2 HD boxes
Xl tv
Small broadband
Unlimited Calls
Sky Sports
£92 per month
Retentions deal:
2 V+ boxes
1 HD box
XL tv
Small broadband
Unlimited calls
Sky sports
Sky movies
Hd sports and movies
90.85 per month
Not much of a saving on current bills
But had 14 quid worth of services (sky movies and Hd pack) added to my package plus addidtionsl V+ box which normally costs 100.
Not as good as some deals I've see. On here, but goog on holiday today so had to accept. Reckon it's worth about £268 when you factor in cost of additional services plus additional box so I'm happy0 -
Craig, Im so glad you got a deal youre happy with. My disconnection date is Sunday, and I've not had any further contact from them, so will make one last attempt to negotiate something tomorrow. Have a great holiday xxx0

Hi Chrissy
I reduced from around £79 to £80 per month (including 50p to £2 calls) to £55.46 (plus calls) by keeping xl tv, keeping xl 20mb bb, xl phone but removing talk mobile and talk international, adding tivo and keeping v+ box (adding tivo gives you free v+ so they remove the charge for the extra box as I was on triple xl tariff). The people on the retentions option 5 when I called were really helpful. If I'd moved to Sky it would have been £60 (a few pence under) a month for a max of 14mb broadband but would have included caller display plus then having to change the phone number for a BT/Sky phone line install. I'm happy with what I was offered as that seems fair. Hope you get offered something you are happy with.
Need to add I agreed to £99 for the 1tb tivo activation fee (no install fee) as OH figured it would be better than the baby version. The baby version was offered at activation/install fee of £79 (reduced install/activation) so the bigger tivo box seemed better value and OH confirmed he would use. No one else I've spoken to has managed to get the activation fee (whether 49.95 or 99.95) waived and on balance tivo 'seems' better than sky+ or v+.0 -
Hi notisis
Thanks so much for the information, thats really helpful. As it stands, I think Sky would work out £3 cheaper for me, but that isnt really worth the hassle of changing and getting a new phone line etc. Providing Virgin stick to what they offered me at the weekend, Ill probably sign up for another year. If they dont, then Ill be off!
I really appreciate everyones help and advice, will let you know how I get on.0 -

Can't you join SKY VIA TopCash Back site. I'm sure you get about £64.00 back for your package?:beer:0 -
Well finally had my call after 8 attempts by VM ( and what a complete waste of time it was ) explained what Sky was offering :-
basic entertaiment package £19.50
movies 1 & 2 + sky sports £27.50
line rental £12.25
unlimited broadband £7.75
also included free instalation,free sky box,free wireless router,free caller display,free evening and weekend calls ( 01,02,03,0870 )..
TOTAL £67.00
I also explained going through quidco would nett me £125.00 in cashback + £25.00 in m & s vouchers
Over the year contract with sky means I would be getting all of this for £57.00 a month...... the guy at retentions said " Oh can`t touch that price we will collect our equipment on the 9th August goodbye " and put the phone down.
I am really annoyed that we have been with this company for many years and they couldn`t give a flying fig.0 -

Hi. Im pretty much in the same boat as you. I have 2 days left before my cancellation date, and I have just rung VM again to see if I can get any more joy out of them. Stupidly I havent done anything about getting Sky connected, as I was hoping Virgin would offer me something to stay, so it will mean a few weeks without any BB if I change. I had pretty much decided to stay with VM if they would move my current old virgin box into another room when they installed the V+ box, but they insist it would cost another £6-50 a month, when I know lots of other people have managed to get that as part of their deal. What with that and the £49-95 activation fee to activate the V+ box, Im really veering towards Sky now. Monthly cost would be £62 as opposed to £66-40 with Virgin, and no activation costs for Sky+ box. One of the VM advisors actually advised me to do that as he said I could come back to VM as a new customer and be eligible for the new customer offers after a year with Sky. Im sorely tempted......0 -
