Well done. How long since you cancelled Dave?0

Not as good as some but I've had my call and have accepted evening and free weekend calls, upgrade to large broadband and a new router for £17 a month and a £17 starting credit on my account - better than the £27.40 I was paying for phone and medium broadbandYou laugh because I'm different - I laugh because you're all the same0

Retentions are driving me mad!
They've called me every day since i put my notice in - but they are calling in the middle of the day when most poeple are out!
I eventually called on Monday and asked the Customer Service rep to put a note on my account so if they were looking for me again they would try my mobile.
Yesterday i missed a call from retentions in the middle of the day on my home phone again!
Infuriating!0 -
Well i have also taken the plunge and have today given my 30 days notice to cancel the following :-
telephone £13.90 ( dont use )
talk unlimited £8.00 ( dont use )
tv XL Size £26.00
broadband L Size £26.00
V+ HD ( free )
total £73.90
minus £22.70 loyalty pack
Paying £51.50
Still cannot work out if I am getting a good deal or not
Any input or advice would be most helpful ... Thanks0 -

Am I the only person in the world they dont try to call??????????????? Where am I going wrong???
You need to go into the call equipped with compatitor examples and not mention other customers.
You need to know what it is you want.
What is ideal to you and how do you use it, would it be worth increasing the speed of say internet for you or are you okay where you are?
Discounts are based on history and leyway in the system - VM have definitely gone tighter on the offers - there just isn't much coming from them when you call, so dont mention things like 6 months half price deals etc unless you are adding a service - as the systems wont let them offer it.
I would call them back, say you've lodged a disconnection request, but sky are not able to install as quickly as they promised, is there anything they can do - I havent as yet got as far as disconnection requests as they always try to talk me out of it first - they did, but then I cancelled as TiVO is still too buggy and missing features for my liking...0 -
Thank you so much for your advice visidigi. I will try that. I did go armed with Sky deals, and plusnet broadband prices, but when I quoted the Sky deal, he just said 'no way can we beat that'! I would be happy if they just matched it, but wasnt sure if that was the right thing to say in case they offered me something better further down the line. I think my main bugbear is the broadband. Currently Im on M broadband, yet its costing me £21-25 pm. My daughter has a laptop, but has to buy a pay as you go dongle to use it, and I told him that, but he didnt offer me anything. Would it be unreasonable to maybe ask for a router and/ or a V+ box to replace the basic Virgin box that I have now, or is that too pushy? Thanks again for your reply x0

List your current services and levels and how much you pay.
Then let me see how or what we could get for similar if we were a new customer.
Then go from there.
VM can't match competitors offers in most cases and the internet service is the least likely to be priced matched given its the best thing about VM (in cable areas)
So list what you get now and lets take a look - new deals are pretty good value and if you say what package you have, then they can usually add some loyalty discount on top of that...e.g. I know there is a 12 month half price line rental hanging around...0 -
Thank you so much for your reply visidigi . At the moment my basic services charge is around £73pm. These figures are taken from March bill, so have increased slightly to the current £73-00
Line rental £12-24
Broadband (size M) £20-75 (no router so also having to pay for pay as you go dongle for daughter to use her laptop!)
XL TV £25
Skysports package £22-50
less £9-50 original discount for TV, BB and phone bundle from 2006 (was 3 for £30 then!)
I have a basic V box (not HD box as stated on my account)
No other extras.
In addition, I also have a Virgin Mobile SIM only deal for £18 pm
I could decrease the tv to size L if thats my only option to cut costs.
I only use broadband for surfing and browsing, but do use it a lot! Dont do any downloading as such...
Any suggestions would be really gratefully received xx0
