Hey all...just wanted your thoughts really...I Currently have my package as L Broadband. M Phone and XL TV with the HD box thing.
I pay all in all £42.99 a month (this will be going up a bit due to a line rental increase next month)
I also get £22 worth of loyalty discount for this so effectively it should be £64.99 (not sure it's worth this really though I wouldn't pay that much for it!)
What are your thoughts on here on whether or not this is a good deal? If anyone thinks I could ring up and get a few extras added on for the same price or for a couple of quid more or even a reduction on what I already have?
Or do you think that's taking the mick a bit and that I already have a pretty good deal. I love a good deal (don't we all!) but I don't expect miracles!! lol!!
Cheers for any advice

My daughter took out a package with Virgin about 6 months ago when she moved into her rented house. This contract was for 1 year and was for Phone/Broadband and TV. One month ago she was given notice on her rented house as the owner has now decided he wants to sell. She has found a flat to rent and phoned Virgin to ask them to transfer her contract to the new address. Virgin will transfer her phone/broadband but cannot trasnsfer the TV as there is no 'cable' at the new address. All they would tell her was that she has to continue paying for the full package as per her 'contract' but she will only receive phone/broadband. If she want to cancel she will have to pay a cancellation fee of £180 plus £34 for 'something else' (she can't remember what this was). This means if she wants a choice of TV channels she will have to take out a Sky contract on top of the Virgin one she's paying. Surely it is not her fault there is no cable at new address and Virgin should consider this. Any advice please.
You know I think they can "freeze" it or something like that as i'm sure this nearly happened to me then suddenly they said oh we're actually going to cable this area now!A lot of fellows nowadays have a B.A., M.D., or Ph.D. Unfortunately, they don't have a J.O.B."0 -

Been with them roughly 17 years or so, have rang and asked for better in the past and got the usual loyalty discount. This time I rang and told them what I would like :- (L) BB, (XL) Phone, (M) TV, a V+HD for free, with free activation and no £5 per month charge for my £35.99/month. Was told no..... I gave them my 30 days notice and switched over to sky. 48 hours later VM retentions rang and offered me the package in my last post which was more than I was after in the first place.0 -

Cancelation booked for 23/7. Missed a retentions call by 1 ring (!). Phoned through on the '150' 'thinking of leaving' & was offered £38-99 inc. Line rental for a new TIVO, to keep 2 standard v boxes upstairs, 10mp bb, phone with free w/end calls.......BUT one off fee of £50 for the box. To be honest never record more than 50hrs of telly anyway (most is on catch-up) & don't use facebook, twitter, etc...so see no real advantage. The guy is calling me today. Good deal or wait for call from retentions?
Anyone have a direct number to retentions??...not the 'thinking of leaving us' number?0 -
Hi i read all the comments on this post and advised my dad to call virgin and cancel in the hope they would call (retentions?) and offer him a better deal to stay. He's been a customer for over 10 years , first NTL and then Virgin. They offered to limit services from £72 to £37 a month which he was happy to do but i advised him to continue as retentions should ring and hopefully offer something better. So cancelations have gone through we are being disconnected July 20th. He called them over a week ago and we havent had any calls at all. I am now worried he will be left with nothing and disconnected because they are not going to call and offer him anything. Does anyone know the average time it takes for retentions to get on and try to get you to stay?? Have also been told they dont bother to keep people who pay regular they are more worried about losing bad payers because they rack up more charges lol Any advice i can pass on to dad before he loses everything would be great thanks0

If he has been offered a deal, he can ring anytime and accept it, even up to the day before cut-off, so worth hanging in there.0 -
My question has slipped back a page or two... has anyone been called on their mobile by the retentions team? I don't have a phone plugged into my landline, and don't want to go through the cancelling malarky if there's no chance of getting a retentions call!0
