Looks like I got lucky on this I did have TV M+, BB L, Phone L and plain V box and cancelled with them Monday Night. I missed the first call from them this morning and just rang now, I got offered

    TV XL
    BB L
    Phone XL
    Free V+ box with activation

£35.99 with apparently a gaurentee it will not go up with the phone prices next month. I took it and wierdly I did not have to haggle at all he came out with the deal straight away, so want to see it on my bill before I am happy with it.

Still no phone call from rentions, just a missed call to arrange to collect our equipment. Looks like retentions don't call mobiles (we don't have/need a landline) so we may have to just cancel this notice, what a lot of hassle for nothing. I don't recommend it!

Gemma - VM outbound retentions called me on my mobile and negotiated a deal with me.

Don't rule this route out. Worst case you call Customer Service a few days before your 30 days cancellation period expires, and tell them you've changed your mind (or some other suitable excuse).

Give it a few weeks, and then call them up and say you've been called by SKY offering you the best deal...and put in another 30 day cancellation notice. Doing this helps convince VM Customer Service that you're actually going to leave and I suspect generates a retentions call.

    Any advice appreciated
    My current package is
    TV M+
    Phone M
    Broadband L
    V HD Box

I pay £34.50 a month and i am out of contract, having just checked i am paying for a HD Box even though i have never had one i have the basic V Box
I am worried if i phone up to demand the missing HD Box they will somehow "renew my contract"
Would people threaten to leave or just try and get the HD Box and a better contract?

    Thanks
  • Hi folks - can folks let me know if they have had a better deal through retentions for the following:

    L BB (10MB)
XL TV + Movies 4, 5 (all movie channels)
    L Phone (evening and weekends)
    V+ HD
    Additional set-top box

    Total £72

This has been creeping up over the last few months, so am keen to get a better deal. Any good Tivo deals to be had?

As it was the day before notice ended, I called up asking about Tivo.

    Now have:
    XL Broadband (30)
    M+ TV
M Phone + Caller ID (which thus far has not seemed to work)
    TiVo

Down to £33.99/month. I'm sure that's not the best deal people have but it's not bad. The guy on the phone was quite helpful (though think he may've been half asleep as he kept thinking of things to add when I asked e.g. about contract - serves me right for calling first thing!)

If it isn't working call it in as a fault - it isn't a free option. It doesn't work in all areas either - there is a possibility that all that was added to your service was a charge.

Just accepted a retentions deal. Not quite as amazing as some I've seen on here, but I'm pleased nonetheless:

    XL BB
    XL TV
    L Phone
    Tivo & installation.

    £39 p/mth

12mth contract on TV and BB and 18mth contract on phone.
  • Just had call from retentions.
    Got what I wanted.
    Was getting:
M BB, M TV, M Phone and standard ntl box for £27pm

Now getting upgraded to Large TV and free V+HD box for £25pm

Probably could have pushed for more as this was their 1st offer, but still a much better deal than Sky so took it.

Is this a good deal in hindsight?

I find that hard to believe. Are you on the wind up? If it's true, you'd be mad not to jump at it, but I'd be asking for written confirmation first because certain Virgin employees have been known to offer you the earth to get you to sign up to a new contract and then suddenly change the goalposts. And you'll probably find it's an 18 month contract for the phone but 12 for BB and TV.
