Up until the other month our bill had been climbing and climbing even though we were on fixed services (same tv and internet, no phoneline) I think we started at around £33 a month and it has risen to £40+ a month.

My wife rang up and they offered us a V+ box with free instalation (we had to pay for the box), a free phone line and £1 off each bill

I still think we're paying too much but dont fancy trying retentions, is there anything else i can do?

was on M phone, L BB and M TV with V+ box for £31.49

now on M phone, L BB and XL TV with V+ box for £32.49 fixed for 12 months.

so for an extra £1 a month got XL TV so am very pleased with this.

Nice one - same package as me (except I didn't previously have the V+ box) for £12/month less than me... it's clearly all about outbound team choosing to call you :/

    Hi Forum

I rang to cancel my Virgin media services:

    Current deal:

    Line Rental - £12.24
Talk evening and weekends - £3.50
    TV XL - £25.00 (V+HD)
    BB XL 20mg - £37.00
    Paper Bill - £1.25
    Loyalty discount - -£22.70

Total amount I currently pay £56.29 per month

The cancellation dept offered me £48.99 on the same deal above. The woman was trying to keep me to stay slagging off Sky etc and saying that I have been with them for 7 years etc, quite ammusing but i kept to my guns. Now it is a wait for Retentions to call me...If not I am going to cancel and it ends on the 18th April.

Whats your thoughts on the above package and their new deal they offered me??, I think I can get better.

    Cheers all!

If you haven't actually cancelled Retentions will not phone.

Yes you can. My son was offered better with 30Meg as opposed to 20meg.

I'm currently on the deal where I pay £32 a month for M+ TV, L broadband and M phone. I've been out of contract for a few months. I want to get a V+ box, extra channels as well as a 2nd box.

I rang up to see what I can and the first department put me through to customer services. They offered me the following deal:

    M phone
    L broadband
    XL TV
    V+ box
    Regular box
Total of £45.60 plus £30 one off fee for the V+ box

Is this a good deal? Looking on the Virgin website a deal like this for a new customer costs £61 a month. A similar deal on Sky costs £52 albeit with 20MB internet.

Looking on this thread it looks like people have been offered a better deal than this by going through the cancellation > retention route.

On the phone I accepted this deal. Would I be able to cancel it if I change my mind? The engineer to sort the second box is due to come on 9th April

I really want to lower this, so is our best bet to cancel and then see if we're offered anything from retentions?
What if we don't get a call from retentions or decide not to cancel?
We do need the BB as it's the only decent one which allows the girls to be online surfing and the boys on xbox live all at the same time with no lagging.
We will have been with them for 12 months on the 13th of this month so just trying to figure out now what is the best to do.

We rang to cancel and they offered us 10% off our bill. Told them thanks but No thanks, so please cancel.

2 days later got a call back from retentions.

The £110 a month bill (which would have been £115 with the price increases) is now £80 a month and we have been sent a V+ box for nowt which we're going to stick in the bedroom as we already have one in the lounge.

    Very happy indeed :)
