Hi all I am new on here but have joined because...VM increased my bill to £43.25 I have Tv XL Phone M and BB M, after reading the posts on here I called them and they told me this is the best they can do. so I have cancelled and am now awaiting their call with my fingers crossed.
Have I done the right thing and also if they dont call me can I go back on the same deal ?
Thanks in advance everyone.
I ended up with 10mb BB, M phone, XL tv and he threw in a VM Super Hub.
12 month contract £35 a month, your thoughts please guys ?
Personally I am well happy with it as its saving me £8.25 a month and I got the Super Hub too.
Many Thanks to you all for the advice, my advice to anyone else seeking a discount is you MUST cancel before they offer you the best deals.0 -
Managed to get the service down to 26.49 per month by cutting the channels to basic and the phone line as well.
Broadband upgraded to L as well and the phone downgraded as I never use it anyway. :T0 -
Virgin Media have no regard for existing customers.
Being out of contract, I've called many times to see if they wish to retain me with more packages or discounts and they just quote me stupid money, double or triple the deals for new customers. One department in the company knows nothing about what the other department is doing. They'll send you an offer on a leaflet and when you ring up, they'll know nothing about it.
I only have 20MB broadband and as it's really no cheaper to not have the phone line, have that too. I'm paying them nearly £40/month and prices are going up.
I've just called to cancel my subscription and thought they might offer some goodies to keep hold of me, but alas...offered nothing...just patronised me and tried to discredit other companies!! 30 days notice (today is 18/2) and will be disconnected on 30/3...that's 40+ days isn't it.......one last elbow in the face from Vermin!0 -

Your paying £40 a month for just 20M broadband?!!!!
What are the exact services you have??6 debts down - 1 to go: just over £1000 though, soon soon....

same BB package (:()
Total cost per month: £48.something.
I have checked on the website and an equivalent package would be around £58.99 with a one off fee of £49.95. So i've made a massive saving, especially when taking the series passes into account!Fog on The Tyne isn't mine all mine... but if I wanted it, I'd want it with a discount code.0 -

No activation charges for the boxes either.
Excellent! I already had the large BB package, and to be fair i've only got 1 telly in my house, but if i could have wangled another box out of them then I would have, haha :rotfl:

I am guessing no one has got a deal that involves keeping 50Mb BB as no one matches it elsewhere.
I have:
1 V+HD box
XL TV
XXL BB (50Mb)
M Phone (never use it)
and pay something like £63.74 since VAT went up.0 -
Ok so retentions just phoned back and offered (after some discussion!)
XL TV
XL phone with talk mobile and 200 free mins to 0845 and 0870 numbers
XXL BB
V+ box downstairs with an extra V+ box upstairs
All for £60 a month for a 12 month contract. I'm really pleased with that and have accepted. Any thoughts would be appreciated. It's saving us £15 a month pus calls from what we are paying at the moment which was a mix of Virgin and BT.0 -
If you were in a position to join as a new customer it is £150 cashback on Topcashback this evening (normally £65).

I contacted Virgin Media to ask for my MAC code the operator said they don't use that anymore because they're cable (Feb 23rd 2011) I figured I'd let them ask me what I wanted it for and said that having been a customer with both Blueyonder and Virgin for more than 15 years I felt I was getting a raw deal and had decided to check out other company's for a better one. The operator got quite shirty when I said I didn't want to downgrade my package, that I wanted a better deal than I'm getting with Virgin paying D/D which is as follows
Large TV @ £12.25
Large BB 10mg @ £25.25
Calls unlimited landline @ £12.24 and £8 line rental
£14 bundle discount so in total £44.20
She said I was getting the best deal on the market and that if I moved to other company's I wouldn't get the same package sizes for this amount of money, she did offer to tie me into another 12 month contract for a £3 reduction which I refused. I said if Virgin didn't appreciate such a good customer then I would go elsewhere she more or less said I could please myself but wouldn't budge. My problem is that I suffer with a form of number dislexia which makes it almost impossible to understand price comparison websites, charts or tables. I even struggle with public transport timetables. I'd really appreciate if someone could advise me how to work out where I could get a better deal without having to deal with the above. Is there somewhere I could just input my current deal and have it come up with cheaper alternatives?
Thanks
LIz0
