how long is an expected call back from the cancellations dept?

before you actually are cancelled within the month

I was getting missed calls from them a few days to a week after cancelling, however annoyingly they only call in the day on your virgin media landline so it took me about 3 weeks to get to speak to them due to work. Was worth the wait though!

It depends on what contact number they have, I didn't have VM phone. They only had my Orange mobile number, so called me on that, but only repeated the original offer.
I had BB only, which they don't seem to like, they prefer bundles which allow more leverage/tweaking.
    Move along, nothing to see.

thankyou :) yep sounds like virgin after several months of service of 1mb net eventually they started to call back, had a chat with a friendly bloke 1 day, said hed call back on the tues but didnt :( few days later there was 1 missed called wether from them i dont know but no follow up call, i asked at some point for a little compensation, checked my bill there was a refund for partial months service of 14p!!!
  • Hey guys,

It looks like we will probably leave VM.
It's difficult to get reliable info/reviews from elsewhere, so thought I'd ask here.

Currently, PlusNet and Orange are offering their best internet (60GB limit, equates to pretty much unlimited for our usage) + Unlimited Calls to UK (inc. 0845/0870) for £23 (includes Line Rental).

How are these 2 companies? We are in Middlesex.

  • I have ended up writing a letter of complaint regarding how little they seem to value myself as a customer and how with the cashback and new customer offers I'd actually be better off by cancelling and then opening up a new account in girlfriends name saving about £15 per month over a year!) It's amazing really considering I'd be wasting a lot of the company's time in administration, collecting old equipment, installing new...

I also mentioned that I was promised a Samsung box when I signed up but never received one (didn't really seem worth mentioning at the time, but one of the reasons I am becoming frustrated is how slow my box seems to be, presumably because I have an older one!)

Maybe someone might realise how poor their policies are and I may be offered something far more reasonable.
  • I am paying £38 for Virgin XXL per month. I have been a customer with them fr 3 years, is there a way of getting a little discount or am I stuck at this amount? I don't want a package, just internet. Thanks

It is now £35 per month w/o a phone line, so you should be able to shave at least £3 off it.

Like I said in my previous posts, unless you cancel and wait or go with someone else(you can still cancel with the other company within time limits)that special call from retentions aint coming.
You are wasting your time phoning 150 for a cracking deal.Unless you are happy with a sweetener of say a few quid off.

This is my deal I received back in November which I posted previously a few months ago.
    Here is the charge workout
Landline offer all inc VAT 11.99 (reduced to 5.99 for 12 months)
08 landline calls cost 2.00 per month(These are excellent for those 0870 and 0845 where you may not always get an alternative number on Say no to 870 website)
International calls(check the countries covered) 5.00 per month(this covers the first 250 minutes per month)there is a 1.50 package that reduces the minutes charge if you prefer that one)
XL tv package 25.00 per month
    L Broadband(up to 10meg)24.50 per month
Landline calls 01,02,03 7.95 per month

This works out to 76.44.Then they deduct 5.99 for the half price line rental,21.20 & 3.00 loyalty bonus and as a goodwill gesture a further
20.24 giving a total of 26.00 per month for the next 12 months.
The telephone is 18 month increasing after 12 months.
It is advisable to contact them one month before your contract ends to give them notice if you want to leave.
You then can give them notice or maybe you could be offered a new contract.

It's actually just over 26 pounds with the VAT rise.YES JUST 26+ POUNDS
This is a very competitive deal so unless yours is similar you are being overcharged(150 WILL NOT GIVE YOU THIS DEAL)

Remember use a 100% cashback site if you are a new member wanting to join Sky,VM etc for the first time

Told you I am still reading your posts;)
  • Called 150 to complain about the price rise hoping for a bit of a deal but got nowhere with the retentions guy. Turns out that my contract does not end until August so I basicially had no bargaining power. Does the price increase mean breach of contract meaning I could cancel without fees? I just wanted a call back from the retentions dept like they usually do as they usually want to do a deal with you.
