By my reckoning that should cost £68.99 so you aren't getting a large discount.0 -

Turns out that my contract does not end until August so I basicially had no bargaining power. Does the price increase mean breach of contract meaning I could cancel without fees? I just wanted a call back from the retentions dept like they usually do as they usually want to do a deal with you.
The 150 number is NOT retentions, to get a call from retentions you must cancel first, you cannot call retentions they call you once you have cancelled HTH0 -
After reading this thread i decided to call to cancel because of the price rise.
Have this
TV M (Basic)
Telephone M (Weekends Free)
Broadband M (10MB)
Was paying £26 for all 3.
Gave my cancellation notice.
Received a call a week later
Was offered same deal for £20.49. Haggled down to £18
So it does work. Give it a go
Was offered 2MB broadband to £16.49 so if i had haggled could have got it to atleast £15.0 -
My current package:
XL TV
L Phone (free evening and weekend calls)
V+ HD box
Addition V box for upstairs
10mb Broadband
£29pm0 -
I’m outside of my contract and I had been on TV M (standard grey set top box) and the phone line for a long time, paying £12.24 per month.
Called them up via 150 (looking to leave) and was offered the following:
TV XL
30mb Broadband
Phone line
2 x Additional Multi Room:
- V+ Box
- Regular box (making it a total of 3, one V+ and 2 standard)
For £55.44 per month + £30 one off fee to activate V+ HD Box (no other install charges)
So in effect paying £43.20 extra per month (than I had been with just TV M & the phone line @ £12.24). What I get for £43.20 is:
TV XL
30 MB Broadband
2 additional boxes (one being V+)
At the time it seemed like a good deal, and accepted it, however after having had a look online (and reading some of the earlier posts on here), it does not look as appealing.
So I called back up today and said I could get a better deal elsewhere and would they be able to match/beat it and the guy on the phone (in a blunt manner) said no, so now I’ve given my 30 days-notice and am expecting a call back to see what they can offer me.
Based on the above package, how much do you think I should be able to get it down to (I'd even be happy with 10mb Broadband), when (or if) I get a call back?

I'm out of contract and currently just have:
Phone XL
TV M
And pay around £25-30 a month!
I need to get broadband now (after moving jobs) and would want:
BB XXL (or XL if it was a lot cheaper)
Phone M (We use Mobiles now)
TV XL with an extra box (Not worried about HD)
I tried to call up to cancel or add on internet and they basically said that I couldnt go anywhere else and get broadband faster than them etc
How do I go about getting a good deal from them?0 -

Phone 150 and go choose option to cancel your contract. You will have to give 30 day notice period.
You will then receive a call from the retentions team to offer you a better deal. Do abit of haggling as well by saying can it lowered further when they call.
In case you dont receive a call you can call up say 20-25 days later before you get cut off to cancel the cancellation by saying you dont wish to cancel to avoid getting disconnected.
So you have nothing to lose as all it takes is one phone call0 -
I cancelled my contract on monday and completely unexpectedly (I wasn't out for a deal. I was genuinely leaving) got a call from retention offering us a deal.
I said I'd have to talk about it with the guy I share a house with and if they could call back. They said they would but its been a couple days and I haven't heard anything yet.
Should I keep waiting or try getting through to retentions again and see if someone else will offer me the deal?
For the record I was on L broadband only, £20p/m.
They offered XXL for £28p/m instead of the normal £35 and with a month free, which I'd probably take if I can't haggle anymore.0 -
Got my call from retentions last night. Got
XL TV,
XL Phone with 250 mins of 0845/0870 numbers,
L BB,
extra V+ box
new superhub
All for £34 per month!! Very happy with that!0
