  • Spoke to retentions last night.

For £48 I got the below

2 x V+HD (I still had the box given to me over 9 years ago!)
    XL TV
    XL Phone
    XL BB (20 Meg)
    Virgin SuperHub

I did try for the 30 Meg upgrade but it wouldn't let her on the system. I've got an e-mail letting me have it for £30 so once my retention deal has gone through I'll just pay, I'm more than happy with what I got.

What is the best 10 Meg Broadband only deal people are getting atm for existing customers please? :)

Do you mean you have no Virgin TV or Virgin phone line? I suspect that if this is the case you wont get a deal.

    I was paying £9/mth.

I was offered £15/mth, or £15.99/mth if I took phone as well.

    I left.
    Move along, nothing to see.

Should be able to get that for £15/month max, probably less.
  • Hi all I am new on here but have joined because...VM increased my bill to £43.25 I have Tv XL Phone M and BB M, after reading the posts on here I called them and they told me this is the best they can do. so I have cancelled and am now awaiting their call with my fingers crossed.
Have I done the right thing and also if they dont call me can I go back on the same deal ?

    Thanks in advance everyone.

You can indeed cancel your cancellation so dont worry about that. Good luck with getting a better deal. I was almost certainly going to put in my cancellation but given the notification of increased costs I'm definitely going to do it. Just need to try and make sure they phone me rather than my other half who isn't interested in things like broadband :)
  • Cancelled L broadband (£18.50) 2 weeks ago, but no call. I think they have my number, but now starting to doubt.

They did tell me my usage was high and to be wary of competitor usage caps. I told the VM have pretty aggressive STM so it's not like they don't limit usage.

After 2 weeks no call. I'd rather not leave unless it's really necessary - how long should I wait before calling them?

Tried pushing retentions today for an improvement which is in the ballpark of what the Sky current offer would be - they couldn't do it so have cancelled, now we wait for a call back... (hoping they have my number on record...!).

For reference, current Virgin package is
    L TV, XL 20mb BB, M phone. £49.74/month.
I want: a V+ box, preferably some movie options, and the full OnDemand service (which is free with XL TV). I was willing to take XL BB down to L BB. They couldn't do it for less than £58/month or so, plus a one-off £40 charge, so around £61/month.

    Sky equivalent offer is
their top BB (this would probably be slower than Virgin given my exchange etc), Sky+ HD TV with 3 variety packs and 1 Sky movies pack, and basic phone, for about £58/month but with £10 off first month, £50 M&S voucher, and £90 cashback via quidco. So working out to more like £46/month for the first year (then you're out of contract and renegotiate).

    Liking Lord_Dante's result above!

Just got a free wireless router and a £1.30 discount per month from reading this thread and making a 5 minute phone call.
Well worth saying that you have a bt line still in the house so the sky option is a possible.
    thanks everyone!:j

    Hey all,

I am currently paying £19.25 a month just for the Large 10mb Broadband package (no phone line). My contract is up on the 24th February and I'd like to try and either get this down somehow or possibly get a good deal on adding TV to my package. What do you think I could expect by calling retentions? I have been with Virgin for 8 years.

    Thanks

    Russ
