I phoned virgin yesterday as my broadband/phone package had gone up to £19 from £14 and I explained that I wasnt happy as it seemed a lot and I wanted to cancel, he didnt offer much, so I put the phone down and said I was going to do some research and would be phoning back. today I phoned BT about the £5 a month offer, which they advised was available to me, so I phoned virgin to tell them that I was leaving to go to the bt offer, and suddenly I was offered £7.50 for unlimited broadband/evening and weekend calls on a 12 month contract, of course I snapped her hand off, As the Bt offer was only for 10mb per month. plus I didnt really want to have to change my email address either. Im really pleased that I phoned now....:T
  • Hi, please can someone save my sanity?!
I have Virgin media broadband and have one of their wireless routers. (Model is a D-Link). The internet comes into the house through their modem and into my computer then the other 2 computers, phones etc in the house should pick up the internet wirelessly. This is the problem; it's very intermittent and more often than not doesn't work.
So today I phoned Virgin and spent 45 minutes trying to explain my problem. She got me to do lots of things like re-boot (which we've tried often before); then we went onto the D Link web page and then onto control panel. It was obvious she didn't have a clue about the problem or how to tackle it.
Finally she told me to ring the number of the senior techincal support team. When I did it turns out that that's a chargeable service; £10 per month and a minimum of £60.
So thinking laterally I phoned D-Link. Sadly it's an 0871 number; (there is another option on Sayno to 0870 but it;s not longer valid). They said that this model is nothing to do with them as it's completely modified by Virgin and they don't support it.
Does anyone have advice for me please?

As above - better off asking in techie board but here are a couple of things to think about:

Have you tested the connection using wired?
Have you tried using the wireless next to the router?
    Has it even worked well/reliably?
  • Having read most of this thread, I relized I had to cancell to get the best deals, Hope retentions ring me!

    There offer
    1 x V+HD (XL TV)
    1 x V HD (XL TV)
    30MB BB
    M Phone

£55 a month or £52 without the extra V HD Box. I kindly explained to Richard that was rather alot compared to Sky. He then told me that sky didnt do 1080i and there box does. what he didnt know was that i have been in the TV indrustry for 13 years and i kindly told him the real facts!
Sky works out at £43 (20mb BB) when I take into acount the £100 cashback on quidco, plus the £50 M+S vouchers are a bonus.

I would prefer to stick with VM but unless they offer me the above for around £40-£44 im going with Sky

Fingers Crossed I can get a deal! or this website will selfdisctuct on the 6th March :rotfl:

Where is the wireless router located?

High is your friend when it comes to wireless and also try to get the router in the middle of the house, not at one end.......
  • I was on £34.44 with L BB, M+, Evening+Weekend Calls. (12 month Contract) - with £165 cashback! I think I got some months at halfprice.

Worked out at under £17 a month.

Cancelled, kept getting missed calls after 2 weeks off cancelling, retention (LOUD voice) called, after 28 mins offered V+, Super Hub on same package for £32. (Could have got £120 elsewhere but doubt I would have got this much off). Initially when phoning I was offered £30 (but without the Superhub or V+).

Annoyingly with 2 days until "termination" they have LOST my retention agreement!
  • managed to speak to retentions and now they have offered

Xl tv with all skysports channels in hd
xl phone line with unlimited landline calls +250 mins o845-0870 etc nums
    large broadband
    1 v+ box
    1 Router
all this for £65 a month

how does this deal sound is this a ny better?

i will ring Bt and sky to see what they can offer me
thanks for your help Late comer
