I got a call back this morning they said they couldnt beat the deal sky had offered and they where sorry thank you for your custom.:eek::eek: will they call back again
Possibly yes, possibly no!
Earlier this week I spoke to them and was offered L BB/XL Phone plus 0845/0870 for around £19, 12 month deal - not as good as the recent posts about £15 which I mentioned and was told that they did not have that deal available and were not aware of it (so clearly depends on who you get through to and each agent appears to have different deals?). I have asked for confirmation in writing but better than I was on (£28, BBL/T L) - stick or twist is the question?

I was told last week when 'I' phoned that best deal they could do for me was £22.
I had a call today from retentions. She basically asked why I was leaving and I told her that I couldnt afford it and other companies were offering more services for what I am paying to VM (which they are not..I made it up).
She asked me what I would want ..services. I stupidly said I dont use the phone and that she could add 0845 calls and anytime calls , but somehow she distracted me from the anytime calls and said oh yeh you could have the 0845/0870 numbers added to youre package for free which are 250 minutes per month which i accepted. I then told her that my router plays up and she add one of those and she goes ok. The price she gave for this was £16.44 for 12 months and said it would be an 18 month contract and that the remainng 6 months the price would increase by £6 making it £22.44.
So she only added 250 minutes of 0845 calls and a router to my current broadband L and phone M package.
I have just realised now that I have been locked into a 18 month contract and I should have haggled for free anytime calls. The router I could have done without. Also I didnt ask for confirmation or letter or anything, nor did she mention of sending one. Do i ring them up and ask for one.
My advice to others is not to get excited like me accept there offer but negotiate a better deal which is 12 months contract as you can then try to leave them and get another better deal.

Hey guys, I got a call from the cancellation team today and they gave me a deal and I was unsure so they said they'd ring back on Monday. I asked them to send the deal in email but apparently they are not allowed to that that from the new year :S
Here's what they offered me:
XL TV + Asian bundle (£10) + 2x V+HD boxes
XL landline with free 0845 and 0870 calls
XL Broadband with free "super hub"
All for £60 a month for 12 months.
First of all, is this a good deal and secondly do you think I'd be able to get any "extra's" thrown in for the same price?
I don't know what happened to the 18 month contracts though, she only offered me a 12 month contract!
Thanks for the help in advance!
Arj
OK so I had the phone call back. I spoke to a lady and haggled with her and managed to secure the above contract for £58.50 a month on a 12 month contract which I feel is a decent dealThe only thing is that she said that the department had stopped doing emails but that I would get a letter through the post confirming the contract. Hopefully I'll get that price otherwise i'm going to be on the phone to virgin media again lol!!

Hi all
I currently pay £20.24 a month for a phone line, talk unlimited and tv m. (I.e. The tv is free)
I don't use the talk unlimited and would be a lot better off with the 0870 package.
I'm also looking to get broadband, possibly the 50mb package.
I'm not in any contract as I haven't changed package for years.
I just called out of curiosity and they said they could get rid of the talk unlimited and swap it for broadband for the same price for 6 months, going up to £24 after that.
Said I'd think about it.
Ideally I'd like phone line, free 0870 calls, 50mb broadband, free router, and a HD package.
What prices should I realistically be looking at?
Thanks0 -
Hi all
Contacted VM a week ago to tell them I wanted to cancel. The operator didn't even try to ask me to stay, and just immediately confirmed disconnection date. I've had no phone call since. I'm still not sure that I want to stay with them as the customer service is so awful, but am worried about non-cable BB speed in my area - however I would probably stay if they offered me a good deal. How do people suggest I get to talk with them about the best deal they can offer me without losing the leverage of threatening to leave?
I've always paid on time and am on an expensive package so can't think why I haven't had a call.0 -
are you in the house during the day? you could always just phone up and say you have been lookimg on
line and seen that some people are getting offerred much better deals and ask if they can look at it again. no guarantee though.0 -
Hi
Im not a retention customer but I am thinking of swapping all of my home media stuff over and wondered if anyone else had done so and got a discount before I phone up and beg
Im looking at taking out the works at a website cost of £105 a month for 18/12
They offer an initial rental discount of worth about £130 and charge £50 to install
Am I likely to get anything better phoning up?
Any experiences welcome
Many thanks in advance0 -
Just wondering do Virgin has a retention department in India? Had a call today from some company asking for me while I was out and am just wondering if it was them, as I was told that it sounded like a call from an Indian call centre and the line connection was very bad.0

iamsporticus - this is retentions discussion only. For new customers there are offers out there, plus at least £65 cashback from Topcashback/Quidco etc. They have offers every few months where this amount gets increased (to as much as £150 in September) so worth keeping your eyes open.
KuchKuch - Retentions are UK based so far as I am aware.
hi574 - callbacks seem to be hit and miss, and seem to be mainly during the day (missed most of ours as out at work, but missed call showed their 0800 number (but you cannot call back to that as it puts you through to the normal team).

I got another call yesterday and i asked for XL TV, XL phone, XL broadband, V+HD box and superhub for £46 and the operater said yes. The operater then said it will take 24 hours for them to start and i will send you an email with the details. I am still waiting on them.:mad::mad:0
