well I have just been on the the phone to retentions still they sticking to their word I am getting best deal and that only given £2 discount reducing bill to £22 for L broadband and weekend calls inc line rental.
The Cs did mention ask sam does offically state that vm is better in my area

But I phoned my local Virgin store which is a stand in local town centre and the CS there said I could let this contract cancell and that he will set one up for the following day as a new customer also adding he will throw in a £50 argos voucher and I will get the new router with the modem in. what Is on offer to new customers and web basically.Just that it will be a 18 month contract and i will have to pay £20 delivery cost for the router.

    £18.49 for 6 months
    £24.99 for 12 month

I think i will have to let cancellation go thorugh. I am due this week so that is No1 priority ...lol
  • Going to call retentions tomorrow!

    I have

    XL TV
    M BB
    Talk unltd
V+ HD box (though TV only 32", so HD no advantage whatever)

and am paying around £58 per month. Recently made redundant so need to watch costs, and Sky and BT work out to about £36 - £40 per month. Also, the box (maybe 3 years old?) is causing digital breakup on recordings.

So, I will put in my 30 days notice, and hopefully get a call back. Looking for £35 per month, happy to tie in 12/18 months, and a new box.

Phoned and got it down to £44 per mth, then £30 credit, to represent a further £5 pm for 6m. That gives me £39 pm for the momemt, nearly £20 pm savings.

Result. Will phone again in 6m and see what happens.

    Good deal?

Well that is very similar to my Package:
    XL TV with 2x V+HD (+ asian bundle @£10)
    XL Broadband
XL phone with free 0845 and 0870 numbers
    all for £60
so if you take of the asian bundle that's a quote of £50 for a very similar package to me so I think you've got a better deal than me. Not too sure how much more you can save but I hope I can get mine reduced down to your amount. The lady I spoke to kept saying that £50 was the maximum she could do for me!! Were you quoted a 12 month or a 18 month contract?

Negotiated the following deal after serving cancellation & receiving the retention call back ...

    BB L (was M)
    Talk Unlimited including 0845 and 0870 no.s
    New wireless router
    £15 / month (12 month contract)

This was after dropping the TV bundle (min. package no V+ box) bought a Freeview+ Humax box. Was paying around £25 / month for TV/BB/Phone package.

Seemed a good deal for a reasonably high-end BB & Phone Package?

Very good - is this recently? And is it £15 exactly?

    Many thanks

    Well I managed to get

    V+ HD XL TV
    XL Broadband with free superhub
    and M phone

    Free HD activation and installation

    For £41 a month on a 12 month contract.

Not the greatest and not much improvement on my last try but I was paying just under that for Sky TV, so not too bad I guess.
This thread has me so pumped, I headbutted my dog and we both screamed.

Well its a new 12 months contract this time but only signed up to 18 month last july 2010! so hasnt really added anything just had to call there bluff that i wasnt bothered about the cancelation charge. got phone call after 4 days of giving notice
  • I am still in an 18 month contract, but a few months ago they raised the price by £1 which surely permits me to cancel without penalty? Something that didn't occur at the time was surely I should have been protected by the rise as I'd negotiated a deal which is why I accepted a new contract in the first place.

I now pay £18 for L cable Internet. I have no other services and wouldn't be interested in them.

Does my situation warrant a cancelation call back situation, or will I simply get offers for bundles I don't want ("hey we'll give you internet + phone + TV for £40!". "Hmm thanks, much better than the £18 I pay now").
