I got another call yesterday and i asked for XL TV, XL phone, XL broadband, V+HD box and superhub for £46 and the operater said yes. The operater then said it will take 24 hours for them to start and i will send you an email with the details. I am still waiting on them.:mad::mad:
Is that with 1 V+ box or 2?
Also, I got told by the lady I was speaking to that they don't do emails anymore and when I asked her to throw in a wireless usb adapter with the superhub she had no idea what I was talking about
It seems that it is definitely hit and miss, and it's just luck as to who you calls you back and if you get a good deal!0 -

I do hope all the members who have PM over the last few weeks have found a cracking deal out there. The VM number I have given you maybe on answerphone so keep trying and leave a message including a mobile number.
Remember their bus stop/billboard ,website,TV and newspaper advertising targets new customers.Even those deals look good however put your new deal against that and ask yourself can THEY give me better, even better than what has been offered?
Just a little more information to other posters
You may have read that back in November I got a cracking deal from VM retentions in BIRMINGHAM.They phoned me because I had signed up with SKY and they wanted to keep me as a customer.
It would appear that some members are not getting the best deals. The answers below maybe the reasons why
1.Have you actually put in a cancellation and lined up a new supplier( consider a 100% cashback site if you do)?
2.Are you actually speaking to the correct retentions department?(ask them what the weather is like outside)
3.Are you happy with your current VM deal and go with the flow if they just take off a few quid?Big mistake!
4.If they offer you the lower TV package instead of XL TV will you be happy?
5.If you are a past member you may have been given loyalty discounts on your bill. These will need to be carried over. Are you getting your loyalties credited?
6.Are you getting an immediate email from the person you spoke to confirming your new contract? If you don't then
you are speaking to the wrong retentions team. They use their managers email address to send it within five minutes of your call. Then you can ring the number they give you to accept the offer. All done in 30 minutes.
7.When you phone 150 ask to be put through to a UK call centre if you get no joy with a deal.My experience with the call going abroad was they were not in tune with the errors on my bill and I was also advised by the centre supervisor to throw away my old cable box something which the CEO were happy to deal with.
8.Are you telling them you cannot afford the deal they are now offering you?Not the deal you have been paying.
This may improve again if you say that.
I usually accept the third offer if I do a contract.
They will offer you what they want. You need to haggle with them to get the better TV deal including a FREE V+box which you can install yourself. This will save the installation charge
My deal shows what can be achieved through tweaking their deal to what I wanted at the price affordable to me.Of course markets move with the times but if SKY did offer a £5 pm add on covering all my landline 01.02.03 calls (up to one hour),international calls and calls to 0870 numbers then that's where to start haggling with VM.Of course you may not want one of the options then replace it with something else.So please research the market.
Finally once I got the deal I cancelled the new contract with Sky and contacted the cashback site to remove my bonus.0 -
isayoldchap, brilliant post and thank you for all the useful advice through out these forums. I just wanted to ask if you think £58.50 a month for 12 months is worth it for this contract:
XL TV + Asian bundle (£10) + 2x V+HD boxes
XL landline with free 0845 and 0870 calls
XL Broadband with free "super hub"0 -
As mentioned previously, I got a call from retentions and eventually accepted the following deal:
XL TV with 2 V+ Boxes
M Phone
XL Broadband with free homehub (superhub thing)
For £40.84 per month and no installation costs.
I think that's quite good....
The problem is I forgot to ask about adding Sky Sports to my package - is there anyway I can get another call back or speak to them again? They are due to come and install on 15th Jan (Sat).
If not does anyone know what retentions are offering the sports package for at the moment?0 -
As someone who has broadband only at the moment...
I cannot call 150 from my phone...
Have you tried getting through to a UK operator and wanting to get extra services....Very difficult.

Thats odd as usually if you want to add or buy something you will always get through - thats why companies have separate sales and CS lines so they can answer the sales calls without having to worry about someone complaining about the lack of service.0

Just had a call from Virgin and was offered the following:
V+HD Box
XL TV with Sky Sports, Movies HD and Asian Bundle
L Telephone
XXL Broadband (50MB)
for £89 per month
Just got another call from the retention team and now they want £93 per month for the same services
I obviously rejected the deal, but I would be grateful if someone here can confirm what would be a decent deal for the services I want. The above bundle normally costs £110.74 per month0 -
I cant post to links as i am a new member but I cant understand all these quotes over £100 when if you go on the 'very impressive package' on the virgin website you get.
2 V+ HD Boxes
XL TV with HD Sports, Movies, and premium HD
XXL BB
XL Phone
For £85 then £12 line rental on top, so all that for under £100
Could be a good place to start.
I spoke to retentions yesterday and got
XL BB
XL TV 1 V+ HD box and one V box
M Phone
for £49 inc line rental.
I'm now tempted to phone back up and try get the VIP deal with a discount,£75 would be ideal.0 -

Thanks for that. It turn out the services I want are then £107.40 per month and I get XL Telephone and an extra V HD Box. In theory, they then should be able to offer a better deal than £93. I will mention that to them if I get another call from Virgin.0
