Well you did ask and in a word 'yes' you could have got a better deal.Have a look at my deal I posted
I think you were in a better position to haggle than me, in that you already had a tv package and everything set up (except HD), and you have been with them longer than me.
I found it difficult to come up with reasonable arguments in my support, because what they offered me is better than anything I could have got from Sky as a new customer.
With hindsight I maybe should have been a bit more assertive and actually followed through my threat to give the 30 days notice to cancel, but for now I am still happy with the deal I got.
Your deal is very impressive though, and is something to aim for this time next year!0 -
I am currently on:
XL tv (1 box)
XL phone (daytime calls)
L BB (10mb)
Think the bill is around £46 per month. Last time I called they said I was on the "biggest discount Virgin could give!"
Got some time off work and will be calling about the cost. Based on peoples experience what should I be aiming for? not bothered too much about 20mb BB but wouldnt complain.
Know I cant get mates rates as already have 3 services.
any thoughts of my target before I start "negotiations"0 -
Had a call from Virgin Media Retentions and they were able to offer me the following deal:
XL TV for 2 V+ Boxes
XL Broadband (20mb)
M Telephone (Including 0845/0870 numbers)
New Home Hub
£40.99 a month
Needless to say I jumped at the deal, thats a saving of well over £20 a month.0 -
Interesting. thanks for the update. Still no put in our cancellation but we did get the £20 credit to our account for the billing issues.0

I been told I have to sign up to a 18 months contract for a 12 months credit, are most people with xl phone, L broadband and basic tv having to sign up to 18 months contract?0

I had to sign up to an 18 month contract to get the deal I got (see my other posts for details) but I was happy to as they confirmed the price was fixed for the full 18 mionths with no increases.0 -

right, thanks I'll be calling them back then.
I been charged 37.90 for xl phone with 08 numbers, L broadband, M tv with Asian bundle, they offered free router and v+ box but I won't get the hd channels of my package because they can't take off the £5 monthly charge.
Do you know if part of your deal was half price line rental? because I got told I would only get £3 discount on the line rental for 6 months if i signed up to 12 months contract, and £6 off for 12 months if I got a 18 month contract.0 -

This is the email I got which breaks down the offer:-
Good Afternoon,
As discussed with yourself here is the email requested as part of an offer made to you to stay with Virgin Media which I am happy to say you accepted. As part of the
offer we applied Half Price line rental which will reduce your cost by £6 for the next 18 months & additional manual credit of £7.55 which will also be for 18 months.
Due to half price line rental offered it puts you into a 18 month contract but the cost of £51.69 would be fixed rate for 18 months unless you removed the Sports 1
package which would then reduce your cost to £37.19 for the remained of the 18 month contract. As part of the offer you will be receiving a Virgin Media Home-Hub &
an additional £30 one-off credit for your 1st month of service.
The details of the offer are as follow:
XL TV on both V+ boxes,
L BB with the free VM Hub,
XL Phone with half price line rental for 18 months + an additional £7.55 rolling credit for 18 months.
Total cost inc Sports - £51.69
Total cost excl of Sports - £37.19.
I hope I have included all the relevant information if I haven't please don't hesitate to give me a call or reply to this email address as it belongs to my Team Manager.
Best Regards,
