  • Just phoned Virgin and gave my 30 days notice.

    Ive currently got

    XL TV
    2 V+ Boxes
    L Broadband (20mb)
    M Telephone

which is costing £60 per month, but more like £68 time we add on phone calls!

He said he could offer us 0845/0870 package on top and drop the price down to £59. Said this was still too much and that were currently looking at Bt Vision. Then came the scare tactics about the tv being streamed through the broadband which will be rubbish etc etc. He couldnt offer any other deals, said £59 is the best offer we going to get.

Everything cancels on the 8th Jan, so just got to wait to see if retentions call in that time!

I am just out of contract with Virgin Media and after two attempts to get my bills reduced (which they didn't)I decided to set up with Sky.I only asked Sky for the unlimited broadband telephone line rental and for an extra five pound international calls,uk anytime landline calls with 0870 inc.#
I was happy to pay £26 direct debit (includes a 2.50 surcharge for not taking the TV.

Then I get a call from Virgin Media requesting some feedback on why I wanted to leave them.

    I was offered all this
XL phone package unlimited calls 24/7 to all UK landline numbers
    - with 250 international minutes (Italy and Spain included)
    - also including free 0845 0870 numbers.
    - and including line rental

    * L broadband with unlimited downloads at up to 10mb of fibre optic speeds.

    * XL tv package with a new V+ box.

All of this for just £26 a month this will be the price for the duration of your 12 month
contract. The phone will be on a 18 month contract and will increase by £5.99 after
    the 12 month period.

The advisor said to me that Virgin Media can beat Sky deals and I had been mis informed.
Also they said there was no activation fee for the V+ BOX and no monthly charge.
I stressed I wanted to stay on the XL TV package as they may downgrade you to M+

I was also advised that this is at the new VAT rate.
You will see that I have asked the advisor to include the actual deal cost in the email so that they cannot hike up my costs during the agreed contract period.

I really hope this deal can help others if they decide to stay with Virgin Media.

Don't forget you could get cashback from (Topcashback).

I know what your thinking ........it's a brilliant deal and well worded eh!:pShocking £26 INCLUDING VAT

That is actually an impressive deal! I am on BB 10Meg (L), Phone (M), TV (M+) + Phone line rental for ard 30 quid. I am still on contract though. Makes me sour just thinking about it:/

Yes, but if you a call back I think you just go to normal customer services or get a recorded message.

    I had:

    L Broadband
    M Phone

    £25 pm.

10/11 months into contract, rang retentions saying I was thinking about leaving as I want the tv.

    Was offered:

    L Broadband
    L Phone
    XL TV
    V+ HD Box Activated
    V HD Box in bedroom

£49.19 pm (+ £24.50 HD activation charge (should be £49 but got this discounted))

I was quite pleased with this, especially as my 12 month contract wasn't up and I didn't have the HD tv package before, so it slightly hampered my haggling.

    Could I have done better?

    Hi,

I currently have the following for which I am paying £41.50 p/m:

    XL TV (with V+ box)
    M broadband

I don't have phone with them but I think that's very expensive in comparison with:
    XL TV
    2 x V+ boxes
    XL Telephone
    L Broadband

£37.19 per month fixed for 18 months. I also got a £30 credit for month 1 and a new Home Hub.

    Wouldn't you say?

Been paying this for 3 years - definitely time for a change and if possible would like to integrate sports package in there somewhere or maybe movies!

Could anyone do a bill breakdown of costs for anyone who got the XL phone, L/M Broadband and M TV for £24/£25 because I been told I can't get it for under £28 because I've got the free tv?? this is from a call from retentions, also who this get deal for £24/25 does it include the 0845/0870 numbers and can you choose between talk international and 250 free international minutes?

    Thanks.

    Hi
Please refer to my previous posts for other information
The 08 number is £1 each so 0845 and 0870 will total £2
The 250 minutes cost £5 or you may prefer £1.50 and you call charge per minute reduces.Check your country you are calling is covered with the deal
