I'm on Medium (2mb) BB only, when the initial 12mths were up, I rang and said I was leaving because there were loads of better/cheaper deals.

NOTE, I told them I was leaving, NOT, "please can you do me a better deal", I had a fall back plan (ADSL) if they didn't play ball.

I let them persuade me to stay at £9/mth, (£10/mth but quid off for online billing).

The deal is for 6mths and I won't hesitate to move if I don't get an acceptable new deal in November.

    Well worth £9/mth.

I know several people broadband only - couple my own family who have reduced priced deals on just the broadband.

Thanks BexTech for the info.. out of curiousity, are they on XL? Based on what Umer is saying, if this is consistent, I might have to look to dropping the package. Thanks Umer.

    Hello,
I just wanted to check what people thought to this price for broadband etc from Virgin Media. I'm an existing customer and have been paying £25 for phone and analogue tv for quite some time. I rang up asking how much it would cost to upgrade to digital tv and get broadband and they quoted me the the following package:

    Broadband 2mb
TV XL package (with free Setanta)
    Phone - existing package

£17 more than I'm paying now which would make it £42 a month. Is this a good deal and has anyone else rang up to change their package recently?

    Thank you
    Nicky

I have been with Virgin/Telewest 3 and a half years. Just moved house and have managed to get this

    Basic Broadband (M)
    Basic TV (M)
V+ (£30 one off charge for box)
    Phone line with Talk Unlimited
Free phone, TV and BB installation.

For £29.95. The "published" price for this would be £42 and they initially said they couldn't go below £38.95, then £33.95, then my current offer. So when you say you want to leave they can be haggled.

One word of warning though, always majke a couple of calls to recheck what the cost of your deal is, as I have phoned them 3 times this week to ensure I am getting charged what they offered. Each time, I was quoted a different price but it's all written on their screens so you should be okay if you insist.

Yes. Some on XL broadband only, others on L broadband only and others on M broadband only.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

  • Hey thanks Truescot! I'll make sure I ring them and check again so I be sure it's the right price! I'm going to check the website also. They asked for a password when I rang but I've never had one as I've been with them since they were Diamond Cable 9 years ago!

  • Hello!

Pretty interesting reading about your offers that you have had, I work for Virgin Media, and although I'm not about blabbing how to bleed us dry, I like my company too much and I'm a share holder :o) but I find if your good crack and nice ot deal with, we can make more options open up for you, if you know what I mean.

I'm happy to answer any VM questions you might have!

What are my chances of getting a V+ box free? I have the following package

    TV XL package
    Broadband M
    Talk Unlimited XL

with discounts I pay £35.95 a month. Would like a V+ box but have been thinking about moving to Sky too. Any advice appreciated

How long do I have to cancel my contract if I've just renewed?

Called this morning as I'm paying £25 for the medium broadband, was offered it for £17, I agreed, since I was feeling lazy and couldn't be bothered with the hassle of changing, but thinking about it I was stupid to agree (need to stop being so lazy) as I have a contract with o2 and can get there broadband for £7.50. I'm happy to take the cut in speed if it means saving the cash.

  • Anyone got a current 0800 number for retentions? I just tried 08000 052 0870, doesn't work any more, 150 from Virgin phone (which I'm not connected to yet), or 0845 number.

They promised me a wireless router, as I've taken out a new contract for £10/month for up to 8Meg, evening & weekend calls. I still have to pay £10.50 line rental to BT though, as I'm in a non-cable area.

I've got the BB upgrade, but my calls aren't live yet, and the router's not turned up after 3 weeks. Was supposed to take 5 days!

    Hi VM Insider...

I would like to know whether it is possible to get a discount only on the broadband package? I've been with Telewest/Virgin for nearly 9 odd years... and yet, they tell me that the only offer they can make me is for £3/month for the XL package, which quite frankly, is not a very good deal at all.

What's the best offer that Virgin can possibly make on the XL broadband package only?

    Cheers.
