Virgin Media Retention thread

I notice some customers on here are Virgin.net (ADSL) customers and not Virgin Media (Cable) customers.
ADSL - using the BT phone line infrastructure and requiring filters/splitters on the phone socket.
Cable using the cable network over co-ax the same system as their TV.
With ADSL you do require a MAC to transfer to another ADSL service.
The retention deals spoken about are for cable customers.
I was a cable customer for eight years and they offered me no deals.0 -
Have been customer Virgin Broadband for 2 years but recently been having trouble getting online. First connection disappeared, then couldn't get into Virgin Mail, and now for last 4 days can't get connected again.
Have phoned Virgin 6 times over the last 2 days and always music while on hold. Am on library computer now, and guess what - I can't log into my Virgin mail!!
I told them before, I was thinking of leaving but they are not offering me anything other than the £14.99 per month of the last 2 years. (I can't use the £10 a month broadband and phone offer as it is not my phone.)
I'm waiting for a MAC code to switch, but it is being sent to my virgin email (which I can't access) and I can't get hold of them on the phone. So now it looks like a letter.
Not a very happy bunny at present. Still, it can hopefully get better....
That's the second person referencing a £10 BB & phone deal, where can this deal be found?0 -
Don't forget to renew the deal 30 days before it expires, otherwise you will be giving your 30 day notice of leaving in the £17/mth period
Don't worry it's marked on the calendar!
As an aside, when I last renewed, I had actually left it a few days late and had run into the £17 period.
To VMs credit they adjusted the payment so I only paid the higher rate for the part of the month up until the deal was done.
All done without me asking.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
Hi everyone
Just after a bit of advice...moved into my new flat at the end of october 2007, took out the virgin media '3 for £30' offer not long after....as this is due to run out shortly just wondering if anyone has any advise on what to do to get the best possible deal out of them, cant really afford to pay much more than i do now, and really dont want to go back to ADSL internet as its less than 1mb here and getting 2mb on virgin....
I got the XL tv package and M phone package included in that price....not too fussed about the phone as long as i get to keep the line as i use the say no to 0870 website and make the calls free from my mobile and just use the landline for incoming calls.
I read somewhere that if you said you was moving to sky etc. they will try to keep you on, dont really want to say this for them to say 'ok move then' cos i wont have a clue what to say to that!
Oh, and I also have a V+ box that i got from them (paid £25 for installation) which i got about 5 months after signing up to them, which they rung me up saying they had an offer where the box was free as long as you paid installation. Does that mean that my contract was 'renewed' when i got the V+ box and i dont have to worry about this until March/April as the original virgin tv box was included with the original package?
Any help will be much appreciated0 -
Just phoned Virgin Media as my contract ends soon. First the guy gave quoted me £18 just for 2mg broadband. I was trying to haggle but he wasn't playing ball so I said i might just cancel the whole thing and he was just about to go ahead and do it! So i said oh erm I'll think about overnight and phone back.
So phoned retentions this time and after a few minutes of haggling the guy eventually reluctantly offered the 2mg broadband for £11 for 6 months. I guess they must be told to offer that as a last resort if the customer is really persistent!
I imagine in 6 month's time when i phone up they'll try and bump it right up - I'll cross that river when i come to it! LOL0 -
Does anyone know about this deal for phone & BB for £10 ? re above post #1430

Currently have TV Size L £22-50
Broadband M £18-00
which is £40-50 per month. In the past i rang retentions and always go a discount now and then. Got it down to £22-50 at one point. When my discount period finished i wait a few months before ringing retentions so not too look greedy.
I rang them last week several times. The best they can offer me is
TV Size XL, Broadband M, and a Telephone line for £31 fixed for 12 months. True i have to sign a 12 month contract. Is this a good deal? Has anyone bettered this recently? If you agree to a 12 month contract over the phone is there a cooling off period? Kids love the extra channels.Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problemsWell at least i learn something on the way

I have been offered Virgin Line rental with unlimited landline calls 24/7, and broadband size L (upto 10MB) for £28.50 per month, on a 12 month retention contract by their retention dept.
Is this a decent deal to go for?
Or should, or can i better it by asking for something else?
p.s. i only need BB and phone. I don't need TV at all.
Thanks.0 -
After moving house and being offered various deals which were never confirmend in writing and always had "disappeared" when I phoned back to confirm, this is copied and pasted from an e-mail I INSISTED they send me this morning.
Just to confirm the deal offered this morning is as follows:
Talk Unlimited
Talk International
Talk Mobile
Size M Broadband (2mg)
Freeview through a V+ box
Ebillling
For a total of £24.49. This comes with a 12 month contract. But the discount will remain on your account indefinitely.
If you need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
So my advice is be persistnent and don't beleive what someone tells you as you may get a shock when the bill comes in. At one point, there system showed service charges 14 a month more than I was quoted, for the same package.
Phone 150 and press the "I'm thinking of leaving option", thats the ONLY way to get the best deals.
Skint: (adjective) The tendency to turn off the grill when turning the bacon.
Think skint - it makes things simpler0 -
ive just rung virgin media up....as my contract doesnt run out for a month i thought i would see what they had to offer.....i still keep the 3 for £30 offer for as long as i stay with them!!!!
Worth ringing up and asking what you can get, seeing as it doesnt cost you anything just to ask0
