Virgin Media Retention thread

  • Trying to ditch Sky HD and change to Virgin, already have phone and 2Mb BB with virgin.

Ideally want 3 V+ boxes installed.

First call they wanted 3 lots of install charges, box 1 £30 box 2 £75 and box 3 £150. I don`t think so.

Second call, all three boxes installed for £75.

They said there is no extra charges for the boxes once installed, but am sure if I ring again that will have changed.

Might just cancel and let them chase me.

Yes, know you can get a broadband only deal, just noticed the price increased last month for £9 p/m.
  • Hello I have VM Broadband Size M. They have been charging me £18.00 for over 2 years now. I looked on the Internet and see they are offering new customers the same package for £10 a month for the first 6 months and £17 thereafter. I looked at 02 website and they are offering broadband for just £12.50 a month for non-02 customers.

I called VM armed with this information.
    The following happened:

    1. I got through to an Indian call centre.
    2. I asked for a reduction and tryed to bargain. She bluntly
refused and stated she could offer me no reductions.

Has anyone been in the same situation and tried to bargain with them? I think they should offer a reduction as I been with them so long.
She obviously is trained to say 'NO'.
Whats your opinion on the matter?

    Thankyou in advance.

SavingSomeCoin: You need to call and go through to the "thinking of leaving us" option. Then just tell them you are thinking of leaving (make up saying you have sky and could get free bb with them, and then mention that they are offering £10 to new customers, etc.) they should then offer you something.

I have tried this but with no avail... however, it was a couple months ago. I have the XL broadband package only, and they said that they can't reduce it any further than £34/month due to the fact that I have no other services with them. The normal price is £37/month which basically means I'm saving £3/month.

If anyone is able to get a reduction on the broadband package only, please do let us know. Otherwise, I'm in a right mind to move to 02 and get the broadband package for £15/month since I already have a mobile phone with them.
  • today I upgraded via the retention line
    XL TV
    L -BB
    L -Telephone-- 35 quid a month
and V+ plus box installed for £75..
now on reading this thread i see people are getting discounted or free V+ installation. Any tips on how i can haggle them down ?

    many thanks

I know several people broadband only - couple my own family who have reduced priced deals on just the broadband.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

  • Hello,
I just wanted to check what people thought to this price for broadband etc from Virgin Media. I'm an existing customer and have been paying £25 for phone and analogue tv for quite some time. I rang up asking how much it would cost to upgrade to digital tv and get broadband and they quoted me the the following package:

    Broadband 2mb
TV XL package (with free Setanta)
    Phone - existing package

£17 more than I'm paying now which would make it £42 a month. Is this a good deal and has anyone else rang up to change their package recently?

    Thank you
    Nicky

Well they did offer me £10/month for Medium, so maybe its because you are on XL they can't better the offer?
