I currently get 20mb broadband which they charge me £36 for £6 pounds more than there advertised price. I spoke to customer services and they said that’s the price to new customers only it seems the thanks I get for being a loyal customer is a higher bill will retentions be able to sort this for me do you think

In the past when I have phoned up Virgin Broadband to ask about cancelling, I have spoken to a pleasant person who has persuaded me to continue with them at a more favourable price.

Today I eventually got through to a cross sounding lady who did not query why I would want to cease being a Virgin customer. She just accepted it and immediately set things up. I wonder if the policy there is changing...

I called on Friday to try and get myself a better deal. I was told by the guy that I would have got a much better deal if I called two weeks ago as at the time they had an 'anti sky' promotion as Sky were targeting virgin customers.

    I was offered:
    L Internet
    XL TV
    L Phone
    Sky sports
    Additional HD box

£67 month plus £49 for the box. Didn't accept it, going to hang on and try again in month or so.....
  • Im currently split between sky and virgin and now virgin are about to show movies and sport in HD in tempted to move everything to them. I currently pay sky £68 per month for sky hd full package and multiroom. Virgin i have L broadband and whatever phone line coming in at approx £30 per month.
What i really want is full tv package with movies, sports,hd etc. Top broadband (XXL) as it seems really slow now due to multiple pcs, gaming etc. Phone line im not bothered about as we hardly use it and tend to use our mobiles. So.... do you think i can get alot lower than the approx £100 per month i pay presently and what sort of price should i try for(been with virgin, ntl for years). Anyone else have a similar package and how much do you pay? What are the advantages/disadvantages between sky and virgin services?
  • Hello there ive been with virgin for 2 years and service been great, i just upgraded my broadband from 20mb to 50mb and they are installing it tommorow. I have
    V HD box
    XL TV (without sky sports/movies
    M phone
    50mb broadband
    V box upstairs aswell
I am now after my upgrade paying £69.99 a month and i would like to hear your opinions on this and do you think it is a good deal etc. ps i highly recommend just calling 150 retenstions all the time even if you know your not thinking of leaving, they have all been great and always help not like some rude git abroad. Thank you in advance and l would love to hear from you.

Just thought id mention the retention deal I secured a few days ago:

    XL TV
    XL Broadband (20mb)
XL Phone (free evening and weekend calls)
    Sky Sports pack
    Sky Movies pack
    V+HD box
    Addition V box
    £56pm

I was previously paying £68 for all that only without the Sports and Movies.

I rang virgin today - my present package is
    XL TV £24.50
    Telephone Line Rental £11.99
XL Phone (free evening and weekend calls) £7.95
    Sky Sports pack £ 20.50
    Loyalty Pack B B / Phone / T V C £ (- 22.50)
    V+HD box £0
    Broadband Size: M £20.50

I was getting a £7 discount on top of that, now reduced to £3.50 (and they made out they were doing me a favour giving me that) so I am paying £59.50 for a far inferior package. They said there is no way, not any way, I could get a better deal than that, end of story. I do not want calls unlimited, which is phone (L) , but if I switch to phone (S) the cost will actually go up because I lose my 'loyalty bonus'!! - I will pay more for less !!

I quoted the above to them from Rycall , and they said it is an absolute 100% lie, no way , ever , anyone gets a deal like that --- they said outright he is a liar.

Can I get a better deal than I am getting - how ?? I have seven days before I 'agree' to my new package with the £3.50 discount instead of the £7 discount --- if I do not take the £3.50 I lose all £7. Only alternative is to kick them out - and who needs that hassle ?
(I hate them, but they have me over a barrel)
  • I was wondering if anyone could help me?
I have been with Virgin and previously eurobell and telewest for about 6 years, i have:
    TV - L - £12.50
    BB - M - £20.50
    Bundle discount - £7.50
    Total - £25.50
i also have my mobile through Virgin.
I have recently tried to upgrade to the XL TV package and V+ HD box whilst keeping the same BB but have been told it will cost me £37.50 per month and they cannot apply the bundle discount, is anyone else on a similar package and paying less?

From the posts it seems like VM are playing hard ball with their customers and are less and less likely to negotiate on prices in the middle of a really bad recession. I have been getting discounts for the past 3 years, but I have started experienced their inflexible attitude too.

Just spoke to a very unhelpful person in retentions, currently paying £50 for XL and Sky Sports 1&2. All I was told there was nothing they could do. Mentioned Sky, but was told that they are putting their prices up soon:(
