  • Does anyone know what the going rate for a retention deal on 10Mb BB only would be?

We've come to end of our current retention deal on which we were paying £14pm (or to be precise 6 months @ £12pm followed by 6 months @ £16).
  • Further to my previous post ^^^ I've just rang "retentions" and they offered me sweat FA. She kept prattling on about how other ISP's don't give you the full speed blah blah blah. Told her my dad only lives in the next street and gets 6-7Mb from his 8Mb O2 BB she answered that with "you might be on a different exchange from him and get a slower speed".

Told her I wasn't bothered and without offering any deals she put the cancelation through. I asked her were there any deals available but she said I'm on the best deal possible (£17pm for 10Mb BB only - yeah right pull the other one girl!).

Might give them a ring back tomorrow and see if they'll offer me anything. If I can't get anything for around £12pm and go to O2.

I'm on £9/mth BB only, deal finishes this September.

O2 LLU have increased their capacity locally, they did stop taking customers for a while, but hopefully it will give me some leverage.:)
    Move along, nothing to see.

OKay, I'm looking for your advice on what I should be aiming for when I call Virgin. I've been a customer for about 15 years from the old Telewest days and my package is

    TV XL - £24.50
    Phone Rental - £11.99
    Paper billing - £1.25
    TOTAL £37.74

I want to move from my existing dial-up internet provider AOL to Virgin. AOL have offered free upgrade to broadband but of course I can't take them up on it because it needs BT line. So if I add 10MB BB to my package what would be a reasonable cost in your opinion?
  • Hello all. First post ever, so here goes!

We're with Virgin Media, and are wondering just how far over the the odds we're paying on our current package (they don't exactly make comparisons easy do they?) and whether from experience what we can hope for if we were to contact their retentions people. Many thanks.
    Our current package is:

    Telephone £11.99
    TV (XL) £24.50
    V+ £0
    Broadband (L) £25
    Loyalty Discount -£19.50

Ideally we'd like to downsize the TV to L, but keep the OnDemand, but we're wondering just what our chances are of getting them to budge a little on the price. Hubby tried phoning this morning (just customer services) and they were very unhelpful.

    Hi all,

I have currently got a very simple package:

    Broadband M - 10Mb
TV M (not even M+, basically freeview I believe?)
Telephone - I don't even have this plugged in.

I am currently paying £24 a month and want to get V+HD box if possible. Just one, in my living room.

I don't want to pay much more. Really only want to pay £30 max really.
    Anyone think this is doable?

    Thanks,
    Dave.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
    Hello!

    Telephone Line Rental £11.99
Phone, Broadband And TV Saving £-7.00
    Free Voicemail £0.00
    Broadband Size: M £20.50
    T V Size: M £0.00

    Total £25.49

I'll prob get shot down in flames for saying this but it seems a bit steep for what is essentially freeview, phone and bb.

What do people think? Could I do better?

Does anyone know what is the best 10 Meg Broadband only deal VM are offering atm, Best that I was offered 13.00 a month in October and was informed that I could get a better deal if one was available as time passed. :)

I am going to be looking for this soon. Currently my "loyalty deal" from last year (12 month contract) works out at £17/month
(£25 minus £7 loyalty discount minus £1 online billing).

Last year they also offered a deal including the phone line which I refused (they probably had a few left from Noah's ark).

Currently new customers w/o phoneline are quoted £225 for the year (£15 x 3, then £20 x 9) averages at £18.75/month. The £13/month you were offered back in October 2009 seems very good.

0845 454 111 option 4,2 was the number I used last time. I usually ask what price they can do it for. I don't bother threatening to leave, its usually a fairly civilised chat.

Just thought id mention the retention deal I secured a few days ago:

    XL TV
    XL Broadband (20mb)
XL Phone (free evening and weekend calls)
    Sky Sports pack
    Sky Movies pack
    V+HD box
    Addition V box
    £56pm

I was previously paying £68 for all that only without the Sports and Movies.
