As a longterm VM customer ( via Cabletel and NTL) I'm concerned about the upward trend of my bill in recent months.
Charges itemised last month were:
TV XL £24.50
BB M £20.50
Talk eve/we £3.45
Line rental £11.99
Paper bill £1.25
Loyalty discount £19
Total charges £42.69
Any advice as to whether this is reasonable, or targets for negotiation with VM, will be welcomed.
Thanks0 -
This is mine
Telephone Line Rental £11.99
Talk Unlimited £7.95
Phone, Broadband And TV Saving £-7.00
Fully Itemised Billing £0.00
Broadband Size: L £25.00
TV Size: M £0.00
Ebill Total £37.94 but with phone charges £42.50
Usual payments per month are about £150 due to call charges!
My parents keep using phone cards to call abroad and the charges are horrendous on the access numbers even though there 0845 etc..
Anyone know any good access numbers!?
I'm going to ring them in a bit and see what they say.
Is there a 0800 number?
Thank you.0 -
Bloody hell Saj, why don't you use the 0800 number on the phone cards?? Have a look at opening an account with Rebtel/18185 and see if you can save some money that way!0

malcolmwilliamson. You should be getting at least BB L and a V+ HD box for that money. Try the (while fluttering eyelids and pleading poverty. Even a man can do this if you want to save a couple of quid. I did!) - 'I really like your service and being a loyal long term customer don't want to leave but I can get an equivalent package from Sky for £39.'0

I'm with VM and about 9 months into an 18 month contract. I know they've pretty much got me over a barrell in terms of breathing space but has anyone here managed to wrangle a better deal halfway through a contract?
My current deal is
TV L
No Phone
2MB Internet
£26 per month.0 -
got off the phone from VM retentions.
I was on;
L broadband
M phone
line rental
£25 a month (last bill was £45!!)
I have been offered;
L broadband
XL phone
XL TV
2x samsung (3D ready) V+ HD boxes
line rental
£49 for second box
free installation
£50 a month
i'm tempted
We're on Broadband M, TV L, 2nd box and phone line for £41.50 (with a £13.50 discount). Because of the discount, VM are saying I cannot upgrade to the V+HD box. Even if I lose the discount and upgrade to TV XL, I will have to pay £75 in fees (apparently).
The woman I spoke to was all over the place with figures though (claiming that Broadband L would be £25 and not £12.50 as it current states on the website etc). The deal we've got so far is £66 (for Broadband L, TV XL, V+HD, additional box plus line rental) but I'm struggling to work out how she even came to that figure!
I actually want two V+ boxes and they'd do the above deal (even without the unlimited calls package) for £50 I would be well happy.0 -
Hi guys,
I got the following for 58 pounds with their retentions Sky HD match deal (this ends soon I think)
Triple XL Package TV, Phone & Broadband
Sky Sports & Movies (this is down as 27.50 on the bill. The virgin rep. from retentions said this should come down with the new ruling in a month or 2 re: Skys overpriced sell on to Virgin & other providers. This will further decrease the bill when this come in to force as my 21 pound loyalty discount will still be applied)
Additional V+ box in another room free for a year with free installation (Had to call back for this after the bartering the above deal after threatening to disconnect again for Sky..was only offered 6 months free first).
Just a tip but I balanced up the additional cost (as we were paying 40 pounds with just eve. and w/end calls) by reducing my mobile phone tariff and will be using the landline to call other landlines and my mobile for mobile only calls (I negotiated free Vodafone to Vodafone calls when threatening to disconnect from them).
And I also negotiated a months package sweetner 40 pounds for staying for another 12 months due to previous problems with V+ box and internet.
***Another discount I came across was the Virgin Credit card deal of a 20 pound bill credit per service taken with Virgin Media for new customers. Well I phoned again and asked the retentions team about this as I was agreeing a new 12mnth contract. They agreed a one off 20 pound goodwill credit as technically I wasn't eligible for the offer, better then nothing though!0 -
Well after seeing NBY's post, I decided to call up again. They offered me TV XL, 10Mb Broadband, phone line and second box for £45.99 plus £49 for V+HD or I could get free V+HD but pay £57.99 per month. They also said I could have a second V+HD box for £49 (which ever deal I chose).
I just wanted to check with housemate to see if they wanted the second V+HD box so I said I would call back. Called back today and was told that I was misinformed. Ready to have a go, the guy said that the V+HD box would be free and not £49. I expected him to say the monthly rental would be higher but he said it was the lower charge at £45.99. No connection, activation or box charge. Happy enough with that.0 -
