Sky offered
- free HD box,
- free installation of satellite dish and HD box,
- free line activation,
- free Broadband modem and b/g router,
- BB (Up to 20Mb)
- telephone linerental (eves/weekends) and
- TV with 2 packs
Although I am not subscribing to HD pack I will get the free HD box, because they are giving it to everyone who subscribes now according to the saleswoman.
Virgin lost me as they couldnt honour a deal, and this deal is a heck of a lot better than what they can offer, based on my access to ADSL2.
The best thing is, Virgin were trying to lock me into 18 month, while sky is clearly a bit more confident I will want to stay with its 12 month contract.0 -
I used to have Virgin Media and pay 10 pounds a month, now I have o2 and pay 7 pounds a month and have a more reliable service.
I think this website is a good representation of how rubbish virgin is:

Jay, Hell NO!
That's 203.40 for the year. Try and get it for nearer £15 per month and let us know how you get on! cheers :beer:0 -
Just got a new deal with retentions. Haggled a little to get what I consider a good deal:)
V+ box
additional V+ box added upstairs (no extra cost)
TV XL
Phone M
BB L
Free wireless 'N' router to be received on Wednesday.
All for £38.50
I phoned today but got offered nothing close to this. They offered to exchange my V box for a V+ box for £25 and increase my TV package from L to XL for an extra £10 a month. This would mean I'd be getting what you're getting but with only one box instead of two (and no N Router) for just over £43 a month. New customers get a better deal than that.
I've always been happy enough with the service, but if that's the best they can offer to existing customers, I'll be phoning next week to cancel.0 -
Free wireless router seems to be the easiest thing to get.0

Hi - I need some help if possible
Line rental - £11.99
Talk Unlimited - £7.95
Voicemail - £2 (should really get an answering machine - it was free up until a month of so ago)
XL TV - £24.50
V+ Box - £0 (we paid it outright when they first came out)
Broadband L - £25.00
Premium Channels £27.50
Loyalty discount - £24.00
We have been told that we have the maximum discount available but I cant help thinking that the broadband is not such a great deal - but they are not for budging. We can obviously save £2 but OH is a sports fan so we wouldnt want to lose either the XL TV or the premium channels if possible.
Any idea if there is more they can offer us? We cannot change to Sky or BT as there is no BT line into the house (the last owner had it removed) so we would have to pay a reconnection charge of £124.99 if we wanted a new line put in.0 -
I'm out of contract next month. I'm currently on m everything at £21.50 month. I was offered M phone, L TV and XL BB with free wireless N router for £40 a month. If i didn't want the Xl BB after a month, i could cancel and keep the router (wink wink) and it'd go back down to £32.50. Still a cack deal considering what others get.....0

Just an update in the sky saga - I cancelled sky when told that until it was connected I would not get a letter of confirmation, and that in fact the deal wasnt as I had agreed it. In the meantime virgin retentions rang me back and matched the deal.
I accepted and now pay £23 (and £33 after 6 months) for
Free install and V+ box
Free line rental for 6 months (saving £72)
L broadband
M+ tv
M phone
12 month contract
PS I asked retentions to email me the quote so that I could have that should any dispute arise. This was done and I recommend asking, as although the retentions staff are "outbound" contact only they do have colleagues who will take email correspondence for them.0 -
hi all.
just fancied a bit of help....just called the virgin services number and i think spoke to a non-native english speaking desk where i got pretty much no-where....
got asked such questions as "are you studying?" during silence in the call.
and "are you enjoying your broadband?". she didnt seem to grasp what i was asking at all....
to get a better deal am i pretty much FORCED to phone up and just say "i wanna cancel?" even though i dont wanna cancel cause having fibre broadband is essential for me?
at the mo im paying £42 for XL BB - M TV - M Phone....thats it.
seems a lot compared to what some peeps have got.
also, i'm out of contract at the mo.
cheers.0
