I am in a very similar situation to you.
I have been with Virgin Media for 7 years
    20MB £37 a month
No TV package - happy with Freeview
    Landline £11.00
    E-bill Discount £1.00
    Total £47.00
Very rarely do we make phone calls and if we do, we phone via '1899'
I have been planning to try to get a lower broadband bill, but as we don't want to leave Virgin Media I have been putting the phone call off, just incase they say 'yes, fine, ok, your account has been stopped.'
As a loyal customer for 7 years, I would expect some sort of discount to be offered.

£47? We are paying £5 more than you and we have XL TV and a V+ box. You should definitely phone and get that reduced.
It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.

Virgin just phoned me and offered £18 10mb or 20mb for £30 no other deals. I'm going ahead with the cancellation however can i cancel at the last minute and just go onto a rolling contract until a better deal comes out? Also if i do cancel how easy is it to reconnect?

Got a call back and was offered £1 discount, though took some digging to find out they were just going to give me paperless billing so no discount at all in reality.

Just tried to call retentions but they're closed lol

Ok, so here's what my bill breakdown is now:

    Telephone Line Rental: £11.00
    Broadband size: M £20.00
    TV size: M £0.00
    Paper Bill Charge £1.25
    Bundle saving -£8.00

    Total £24.25

Ok, I know paper billing is optional and I probably will cancel it when I speak to them so basically im getting:

Medium TV, Medium BB and Phone for £23.00.

The same deal is advertised at £14.00 on website.

Having looked at the VM website I see a bundled deal of 100 channel tv, broadband and phone for £23.50.

As far as I know, my TV is the 60 channel option, so for 50p more I'd get Large TV?

I also see on the website that if I was to cancel the TV option (which is essentially just freeview...) I could have a Broadband + Phone deal at £12.50 or £20.00 (better broadband).

Next to all these offers, it says

*when you take a virgin phone line for £11.99 a month.

    The question is:

The £14.00 deal... is it really £25.99 once you add in the line rental.

If so, does anyone think I can haggle any better deal/discount from retentions?

Oh, yeah and the reason I dug out the bill was cos I saw a £150 cashback offer on quidco, may open new account in my name as VM is currently in OH's name. Anyone took advantage of the Quidco deal, any restrictions or small print to be aware of?

Last thing I want is to switch and end up out of pocket for a cashback deal that didn't work!

We reviewed what we were paying to Virgin for the service we received and actually used.

In respect of the telephone we had:
    Telephone Line Rental £11.00
    Talk Unlimited £7.95
    Call Display £2.00

    Total: £20.95

Well we cancelled the above as we have had Skype via a dual phone for some time in order to decide if it would make a viable replacement for VM's phone service. Well we are very pleased with Skypes quality, it works for us. So for Skype we get:

    Europe Subscription (Monthly) £3.39
    Caller Display £0.00
    Voice Mail £0.00

    Total: £3.39

Saving £17.56 per month on telephone services alone

In respect of the TV we had Free Sat installed installed in the kids rooms (x2) and one in the lounge with the view of cancelling VM TVV Package

    So we were paying:

    TV Package 'L' £11.50

    Total £11.50

We did cancel the TV package but after the 30 day period found that Free Sat was not for us in the lounge so got the TV Package 'L' reconnected at a new cost of:

    TV Package 'L' £4.50

    A total of £4.50

Our Broadband 'L' however remains a £25.00 something l am currently working on getting changed as we have been paying this amount for some years now however we are stuck as we have no BT line etc

So now we are now happy to be only paying VM £29.50 per month

It also helps by us remembering to use the inclusive minutes we have on mobile phones which normally go unused.

Also the money we our/have saving monthly has/will pay for the cost of the dual phone and free sat very quickly

    Hope that makes sense....lol

Well, I phoned them and they say they can't better the deal I'm on. Did the usual threatening to switch to Sky but the girl on the phone told me that the deal I'm on isn't advertised - it was a retentions offer from aaaages ago!

Seems that trying to get a discount off a discount is no-go lol

Best offer was more TV alongside my broadband and phone for £30.

Extra £7 so not sure if worth it.
