E.g free router, 2 motnhs free BB etc

Does anyone know what is the best 10 Meg Broadband only deal VM are offering atm, Best that I was offered 13.00 a month in October and was informed that I could get a better deal if one was available as time passed. :)

I've been trying to get a good retentions deal for ages, but Virgin won't budge on the price I'm paying, even when I quote the offers listed on here. They want a name or Virgin telephone number to match the deal.

So was wondering - pretty please would someone pm me you package price and phone number so I can get Virgin to budge.

    I currently have

    XL Phone
    XL TV
    V+ 2 boxes
M broadband (even though it doesn't exist)

All for £46.50 - this is due to increase next month with the price changes to near on £50.

I was told in September that my price was fixed, but then got told last month that the price increases would effect me!!
  • I have been on a customer loyalty discount of £15 that reduces my BB (L) and phone (L) to £23.40. I checked with BT and O2 on what equivalent deals were available to me, and I can get the same service on ADSL2 for £19.04 pm.

Rang VM and retentions woudnt match that - offered £20.94 and that would be on 18 month contract - no budging on that point. So I cancelled.

I thought that with 2 mobiles on VM they ought to be given a chance to quote me a better offer so rang to cancel them and was put through to their retentions (Customer Services).

I was offered a decent deal - the Quad offer for new mobile, L broadband, M+ telly, V+HD installed for £49 on 12 month contract, for £38.49 pm.

I would contract separately for the mobile and media services but the deal would hold based on the combined deal. I accepted the deal, and sorted the paperwork for the mobile. £8.50 pm for 100 xnetwork min/100 vm minutes/100 texts. New 6303 phone too and 2 months free.

The media woman, Hayley, called after I had contracted for the mobile.
She offered £29.99 for M telly, L broadband and M landline 12 month contract, no 2 month free, and no M+ which is the only way of getting the nonfreeview tv services.

To get the deal I wanted and had contracted for I had to pay a total of £42.50 pm, and she wouldnt put me through to her manager, who had just spoken to her to deny my request that they honour the agreement.

I have left it that the broadband service is cancelled with effect from 9.4.10 and that I await the call from her manager; have left a message with the CS from Virginmobiles also.

I wouldnt take TV from virgin at less than M+ so I suppose either I wait for retentions to come back with a better offer for BB and telephone or move to BT/O2.

Do others get the 18 month contract at the moment on first offer or does it improve to 12 month? Has anyone else had a "new customer only" response when they point to the 2 month free deals?
  • I found the link to VM's policy statement re customer fair pricing, so maybe I'll quote this if someone says that to me again.

We make every effort to be fair to everyone, with offers open to both new and existing customers. Sometimes though, you might need to take an additional product or sign up to another 12-month contract.

Just got a new deal with retentions. Haggled a little to get what I consider a good deal:)

    V+ box
additional V+ box added upstairs (no extra cost)
    TV XL
    Phone M
    BB L
Free wireless 'N' router to be received on Wednesday.

    All for £38.50

That's a great deal, how did you manage that? Did you have to pay any installation fees? It's exactly the deal I'm looking for, so any pointers on what approach you took to get it would be appreciated.

I have got approx another 4 months remaining on my current VM contract.

I only get L Broadband [ i think it's large!] and wkend free phone calls to landline for about £23/24 pounds a month.

Is it too early to start negotiations??

Ideally, i just want Large BB now, i'm never in at the wkends to use the house phone! haha

Hi, to be honest it wasn't too dificult to negotiate. Think I got lucky! Just said that my friend was on o2 and Sky multiroom and that he had a great deal and recomended that I switch from Virgin. I stated that I was more than happy with the quality of services offered by Virgin and would rather not switch, however I was looking at adding another unit in the bedroom. I also requested stated that I was not happy that customers on L+ broadband are now offered a wireless 'N' router and I requested that I be offered the same deal. After looking at a few options and inputting a "few codes" she had to remove my existing router (which was a netgear wireless G, previously supplied by Virgin) and then ordered a new 'N' Router to be delivered by courier in two days and arranged a slot. I was also offered the new standard box installed for £50 or £59 for which I declined and requested the V+ box. This was then offered for the same installation price or the standard box installed for free. After I declined and stated tha t I was after the V+ for nothing they repeated that this could not be possible under any circumstances and the best deal that they can offer anybody is £30 installation, due to engineers costs which I agreed to. They then compiled the deal which now comes to £38.50 per month, 25p cheaper than my current deal without additional box and loyalty discounts. This was absoloutly the best she could offer and I quickly agreed and confirmed all the pricing. TBH I expected to pay more, not less for an additional V+ box on my current deal. Happy:j

Thanks for that info. I'll give them a phone soon to see if they can give me the same deal. Did they say how long this deal lasts for and how much it will revert to at the end?

I find the prices and packages vary immensely. My package for TV phone and BB has been up and down for the past 15 months. Be careful about temp adding channels as you can take yourself out of the 3 for £28 deal, or similar.
