I have just phoned and been offered:
2MB Blueyonder Broadband
Talk Unlimited Phone (and line rental)
XL TV Package
V + Box
for £54.99
Is this a good deal?
Phoned again today as I had finally managed to persuade my husband to go for the above deal. I was delighted when the lady I spoke to immediately told me she could better the deal. She reduced it to £44.95 with no installation costs and as it is a life deal I don't have to phone again in a few months to negotiate another deal.0 -
Virgin Media phoned me today, askin if I wanted digital tv for £2 extra a month (I only have BB from them).0

Currently I only have ntl 2meg BB. What would happen if I did nothing. How much would Virgin charge me? also if I change to Virgin BB, do they supply a modem or do I stick with what I've got?0

Virgin Media/Telewest Retentions are closed today. Just tried calling up. I called back in January.
I was on 4Meg BB at £25,
Line Rental £11
Talk Unlimited £14
Call Bar £1.50 ( i think)
£51.50 per month.
In january they slashed my 4 Meg price to £12.50 (3 months)
Line Rental £11
Talk Unlimited £5 (matched SKY 12 months)
Call Bar £1.50
This would be £30 per month then £42.50 afterwards.
Trouble is although it says all that on my notes, i am still charged full price for Talk Unlimited. This months bill is not what i expected lol. I will call tomorrow to see if they will apply it for the next 3 months. Do you think they would/could offer a better deal or should i stick with what i got?0 -
anyone lol??0

I currently have:
2MB Broadband (£9.99 special deal)
Talk Unlimited Phone (£25 incl. line rental)
I had heard of people getting very good deals so I phoned on Friday and was offered:
2MB Broadband
Talk Unlimited Phone
Line Rental
XL TV Package
V+ Box
£54.99
I phoned yesterday to take up this deal and the lady I spoke to immediately said that she could better it and reduced it to £44.95 and also confirmed that it is a life deal so I do not have to worry about phoning up again in a few months and renegotiating. I thought this was a very good price. It is definitely worth your while giving them a ring.0 -
Oh my gosh, well done Liz that's amazing, they're advertising this package for £85 I'm sure.
I'm going to try for a similar deal: followed Martin's advice this time last year and negotiated hard with both Sky and Telewest, both deals have now come to an end and we were really unsure what to do.
It seems to make absolute sense to move everything to one provider but we LOVE our Sky+ and until V+ came along looking like a contender we weren't even thinking of leaving Sky. At the moment though we're paying close to £100 for Talk Unlimited phone, 2MB broadband plus Sky+ with some sports and movies plus pretty much all other channels.
If only there was a guarantee that V+ was as good as Sky+...0 -
My current package consists of:
TV Size XL £20.50
Broadband Size L (4MB) £25.00
Telephone Size M £11.00
Total £56.50
Just been on the phone to Virgin. Waited about 10 minutes then got this nice chap who, virtually as soon as I mentioned that I was aware of cheaper deals like Sky, offered me exactly the same package as I’ve currently got for £30, permanently (as long as I keep the same services)
What a great result :j and all down to this thread giving me the confidence to make the call – thanks all.0 -
Update.
Found out that the nice chap that I spoke to had actually told me a porkie. Did a speedtest on the broadband just to make sure that I still had 4MB (as he had promised) and was consistently showing 2Mb on every available test.
Rang them back and, yes my BB was now 2MB. CS said 'sorry for our colleague's error' and that I could keep the package I was on for the £30 or have the BB back to 4MB for £47!
Have kept the £30 package but bit annoyed that I didn't get what was promised.0 -
I pay Telewest/Blueyonder/Virgin Media whoever......
£18 BB 2meg
£11 phone rental, free weekend calls
£20.50 XL tv package
Calls up to £4 pmth
Total roughly £55 each month
Phoned up to complain about my calls not being itemised on the ebill and they said I have to pay £1 a mth for that now.
I said I wanted to downgrade tv package anyway and its disgusting that there is no customer loyalty. Offers of 3 for £30 are not available to me and I was thinking of getting the sky 3 for £26 offer.
After much ado he said if I upgraded the phone I can have the 3 for £30 offer. So now got 2mb BB still, L tv package, Talk unlimited phone package all for £35.50.
Happy enough with that so long as the bills show the breakdown cos I cant see anything that even remotely matches the deal. I cant even surmise how they've reached that figure.debt free...yippee
