  • I got my new virgin bill yesterday. These are the costs listed:

    Broadband size M £18
TV Size L and Telephone £22.50
    Calls £8.75
    (Listed on seperate page)
    TV Size XL £9

    Total bill £58.25

Seems like a lot to me. But when I look at the web none of the prices listed seem to correspond to prices on the web. Am I getting the XL package cheap? My other worry is that we do a LOT of downloading from the net and we don't want a restricted download package. I've been trying to look at this for months but can't get my head around any of it. If anyone has any ideas as to how I can reduce it please let me know :) I'm worried about phoning up and being baffled into accepting a worse deal :o

    I am currently on:

    Telewest Broadband Elite (10mb) - £35
    Starter TV package - £5.50
    Phone Rental - £11
Every month call charges are around £8

    Total £60 a month!

After reading this thread, I intend to ring them in the next few days to see what they offer me, as the Sky equivalent plus BT rental would cost me around half of what I am paying.

    Wish me luck!

I made the call at 9am this morning and settled for this:

    Virgin Broadband XL (4mb)
XL TV package with free Teleport TV
    Phone Package Large

All for £35 a month! I am very pleased with this.

Just rang them and think I got a pretty good deal:-

    TV Size XL
Phone Size L (free evening and weekends)
    Broadband Size L (4 Mb)
    V+
    Current Box in another room

all for £50 per month. Happy with that.

Edit:- knowing what I know about thier billing previously I am going to reserve judgement on this one until I get the bill as I can't see this deal anywhere.
  • Hi

Im with NTL, and was on:
    2mb bb
    evenings and weekends local talk
    L tv.
    All for £34.00 p/m

After two hours on the phone, by ringing 150, then change my package option, I explained to them about the deals from sky and the virgin bundles, I was given 5.75 discount. I was then put through to retentions.

    I will now get
    2mb bb
L phone (national evenings and weekends)
    XL tv
    V+
Keeping current cable box in another room.
    Now for £34.75!!

    Hard work but worth it!

With Virgin taking them over they are cutting the cost for new subscribers, but are not telling existing customers.Phone them up and hassle them for a better deal. Most people that call get at least £10 a month knocked off. I know folk that have had their bill reduced by over £30 a month depending on which package you have. Get on the phone. NOW!

Their is a Sticky on this subject already. With lots of success stories.;)

  • Oh yes haggle like the devil - have just had my telewest monthly package reduced from £49 to £32 by constant badgering and finally getting the customer complaints people to ring me. That's £200 per annum saved!:rotfl:
Still looking :search: for the next saving!

    Thanks MSE!

Just wanted to say thank you to all on this thread. I have just rang Virgin and got extra TV channels added to our package at no extra cost

We are on the 3 for £30 package and according to Virgin website if you take this package out now you get more TV channels. I spoke to very nice lady on customer service who after me pointing this out said we'll add the channels right now if you like. 20 minutes later we're watching one. Very impressed

we've done the same, except we are on 2 for £20, unfortunately they've messed it up and we have now only got channels 1-5 and need a technician to fix the box. :(

I am an ex ntl tv customer and I have all the original cabling ready to be connected to the new Virgin box. Do I still have to pay the £25 installation cost? If so, it's rip off!
