paragp wrote:thanks for this, i'll have to try and ring on Friday, but please let me know how it goes for you with the phone.
Also with the above deals have you been tied into a contract of any length?
No tie in or anything. (although been with them a few years anyway)
Had the deal on my own package since last august, so thought i'd check mum and dad's bill and found paying much more. plus they'd been having a problem with a continuous error on the bill which customer services/billing kept saying they'd correct which they never did (although they did keep amending the bill for overcharging).
sorted the whole lot in one phone call (including error), no need for threats of cancellation, arguements or anything.
Nice chap in customer relations basically said if you don't ask you don't get, and also if you know someone's getting a good deal just phone up and say my mate/mum/etc are getting X and i'd like it too.
so now they've got better than me, so i'm phoning to say my mum's got this and i'd like it too.
Could only do the deal on phone for 3 months as rebranding to virgin media soon so should be some deals on phone packages, chappie told me to ring back in a couple of months and see what else i could get.
They're also doing offers on mobile phones and rolling out a drive box (like sky+), Drive box not available in all areas yet so not being publicised

moneysavingexpert has just saved me £37.50, not a lot but I am happy.
I pay 24.99pm for broadband, rang them up and told them Sky were offering cheapo deals, but not really wanting to move to Sky.
Got half price for 3 months, maybe better deals around but I am happy, something I would not have even known about without moneysavingexpert.0 -
Well finally got through.
Got £9.99 unlimited 2MB for the next three months, then it goes back up to £17.99.
Got half price Family Pack for the next three months at £7.00, then it goes back up to £14.00.
So happy with that, gives me a saving of £15 per month for the next three months. Will give them a call in three months. They are merging at the moment so a lot will change before now and then.
Thanks to everyone on here for giving me the advice to go for it! :TA cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition~ William Arthur Ward ~0 -
Hi
A big thank you for all the NTL stories. :T I checked my bills and realised that we are paying NTL £60 a month for Broadband, Telephone Calls and Line Rental. The packages from Sky (£21) and Talk Talk (19.99)were rather more appealing so phoned NTL today on 0800 0529403 - Option 3. Waited 35 mins but no matter it was a free call. Told the person who answered that I was considering moving to Sky or TalkTalk and wondered if they could offer me anything to make me stay as I no longer wished to pay NTL three times more than their competitors. The girl agreed they were good deals and asked detailed questions about the two alternatives eg. how many megabytes, what phone calls were included. She did try a slight distraction by saying that if I used a cable modem rather than a set top box I would get a faster connection. Anyway, brought her back on track and she went off to see what she could do. Ten mins later I was offered 4MB Broadband, Talk 24, Line Rental and a Cable Modem for £20 a month starting from today. The same package we have now but with a Cable Modem. Told her I would consider the offer and call later. Took her name (for reference) and was told the offer details would be put on my account ready for my reply.
Phoned later to accept the offer and arranged for the modem to arrive next week.
I'm very pleased and will check every so often that it's still a good deal.:j0 -

It has already happened and now called called Virgin media"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

My household are on Telewest phone/tv/BB and have been for about 3 years now.
we pay
Line rental £10.50
Talk evening and weekends £5.50
Essential TV package £10.50
Sky movies 1 & 2 & Sky sports 1 & 2 £26.50
4MB BB £18.00
Total
£71.00/mth
Now sky do this 3 for £26
to get the nearest equivalent would cost
Line rental £10.75 from BT
Fee evening and weekend calls £FREE PLUS
TV package offering at least 20 more channels PLUS
8MB (Double speed) Broadband £26.00
Sky sports 1 & 2 and sky movies 1 & 2 £22.50
Total £59.25 (saving £12/mth and extra benefits we don't actually need 8mb BB as the computer can't use it all anyway)
Should we ask them to match this package or just get them as low as possible?:kisses2: Got married September 2011:smileyhea

Hi.
Had the info through the post today with web site address but no date for the launch: knowfirst.co.uk Just gives an overview of what will be on offer. No prices as yet.0 -
I am on Telewest 2mb broadband + starter tv + telephone (free weekend) for £29. I am tempted to phone them but am still in month 7 of my initial contract. Anyone in a similar position tried to haggle it down and got reductions or did you get the "you are still in the x month of your contract so no reductions"???
Secondly, what is the best deal people have got from telewest for
1) above package
2) 2mb bb + phone (free weekends)???
Thanks!0 -
