FACT - you have increased your speed to UP TO 10 MB but you are still paying £17.50 per month, which is a real saving of only 49 pence per month!
:wall:
FACT - this is a money saving forum, not a forum for speed freaks and you have a lot to learn yet because you have fallen for their sales patter and have actually saved very little money!
:rotfl:
It is still worth it, because this person might have wanted to have a better connection, and you can't get 10MB for £17.50 a month anywhere so I think it was well worth it :T . Hope I can get as good a deal when I get out of contract. Even though I'm paying £15 for 2MB, but I wouldn't mind paying £2.50 for a much faster connection.0 -

I am in the 7th month of my 12 month contract. I was wondering if anyone has been able to get these price reductions before their initial 12 months are up.
I am currently on telewest starter tv, 2mb broadband, telephone with free weekend calls for 29 pounds a month.0 -

I phoned yesterday and said can you come and take my T.V. box back .....Why do you want to do that asked the Telewest rep....well i have just got a freeview box and can now get all the channels that i was getting on the basic Telewest service i said.
Then he said what if we let you have the box for free and send a service eng to your house to put it into any room you want at no charge....Yes please i said......but tell me why i said.........Well we have noticed that you get the odd movie ( 3 in 4 years ) and the odd match on pay per view ( 3 in 4 years ) so it is in Telewests intrest to let you keep the box.
Result i am well pleased.0 -
I have been with NTL for a couple of years. Have to say I have always been impressed with service. I decided to change to AOL as I wanted to go wireless. I phoned NTL yesterday any was immediatly offered a full refund if I went along to PCworld to buy a compatible wireless modem. They also gave me half price on Broadband, TV Service and Phone line for 6 months bringing total for all 3 to under £22 per month.0

Now something else to mention to NTLs retention team when negotiating. Of course you still have to pay for a BT landline but no need to mention that !
‘Surf, Speak, See’ is the rather literal name given to a service which will group an 8Mb broadband connection with free wireless router, free evening and weekend calls and all six of Sky’s Entertainment mixes providing over 100 channels for just £26.

I've been with NTL for about 18 months and I pay £37 a month for 4mb broadband, telephone and base pack digital TV.
I just phoned and quoted the Sky Surf, Speak, See deal. The nice lady on the other end said "So including BT line rental, that'll be £37 a month". DAMN! She had me there. I wasn't sure if I got the same deal with NTL, but thinking quickly I replied "But with Sky I'll get free weekend and evening phone calls".
Luckily(?), it turns out I don't get those free calls with NTL. HA! I've got her on the run!
She said that in March/April there will be new deal because they have merged with telew......blah blah blah.
I politely told that thats 3 months and over £100 away. She offered me £12.50 a month for my 4mb broadband. That would take the total cost to £35 a month. I asked if she could do better than that. This time she offered half price tv, taking it down to £29 a month. She then said that that is the best she could do and and advised me to call back in 3/4 months to see what deal they could do then
I'm quite happy with that. It's an easy saving. I have spent more time writing this that I did on the phone. The whole thing, from dialling to hanging took about 5mins.
Go on do it!0
