    I have been considering swapping to another service provider from NTL but have only just recently had a BT line installed and Talk talk need you to have had it installed for 3 months.(Ntl are aware of this)
    Does anyone know who has a good deal I can move to? (or at least threaten to).

    NTL arent forced to know you havent been with BT for less than 3 months, you could have already had a BT line for all they know. Even though they will have known when you moved moved your NTL line to BT they wouldnt know if you already had one BT line and were just adding to it. Besides I don't think they check too much about how long ago you left NTL coz they get so many calls and if they do so what just tell them you have 2 BT lines now
    Thanx

    I know BT contact NTL when you enquire about swapping the number that is with them but you could have had a BT line aswell as the NTL line that you have now swapped is all I'm saying. NTL wouldnt know if you had or not

  • Last year I decided to switch to TalkTalk phone from NTL because even though the bill would have been about the same I would get Nectar points for being with Talktalk.
    I telephoned BT (you have to have a BT line to connect to Talktalk) to connect me and cancelled my NTL phone account.
    Before the cancellation date I received a phone call from NTL asking why I was cancelling their phone. When I explained the lady asked me if I was going to cancel the broadband too. I told them we were thinking about it but hadn't made our mind up yet.
    She offered me FREE broadband at the same connection speed (10mb) for 12 months if I didn't cancel the phone. :beer:
    Of course I accepted her offer because the nectar points available through Talktalk would no way compensate for free broadband. I can't actually remember how much we were paying but I know it was in the £30+ region per month.
    We have now come to the end of the free broadband for 12 months so I again telephoned them. The person I spoke to couldn't offer us any deal but told us to ring back on Monday to talk to disconnections.
    On Monday I rang them and again they have offered us FREE BROADBAND for another 12 months. :T
    I can honestly tell you there has been NO difference at all regarding the service from being a bill payer to having FREE BROADBAND.
    I would suggest that all of you that have NTL phone and Broadband must (as soon as you are out of your initial contract period) telephone NTL and ask them what they can do for you. :money:

    Please accept my apologies if this point has already been covered, but this thread is bit humongous to read through everything!

    Does anyone know if NTL's current offer (broadband and TV for £20) requires you to swap your BT phone for an NTL phone?

    It's just that my folks are considering this offer, but they have phone calls routed through a cheap calls carrier which I think requires a BT line. (Long story but they can't get freeview or sky either, which is why they want TV via cable).

    Any help much appreciated.

  • Spoke to NTL earlier in the week after reading some advice on here. Have 3 months half price broadband and free line rental for the next 3 months :) they even told me to ring up again in 3 months as they will be able to do me a new deal, as they are looking at pricing structures
  • After a lot of haggling and speaking to 10 different people at Customer Relations yesterday I got to batter our monthly bill down to £35.24. :money:
    This consists of:
    TV = Family pack + Sky Sports
    Phone = Talk Unlimited
    Broadband = 1 Meg

    The above is valid for 12 months! :T
    I'm well chuffed as it's a monthly saving or nearly £10! :money:

    Hubby said I might end up getting the sack now for being on the phone that much to get that deal lol
