    phoned ntl yesterday to cancel my broadband, they offered to reduce the payment to half price for 6 months, and to waive the non-direct debit fee that i have to pay as they won't let me pay on the day i want, also for 6 months. still cancelled as have got a better deal elsewhere, but thought others may be interested.
  • who are you with for broadband now??

    NTL have been making some good deals since talk talk launched. This thread has been going over a year and lists great advice on haggling and getting the best from NTL so well worth looking :)

    now going to bt, faster speed, special offer and can make calls through internet (free evening and weekends, so i can get rid of option 2, also cheaper daytime and mobile calls- if i can work out how to use it....!)
  • After a lot of haggling and speaking to 10 different people at Customer Relations yesterday I got to batter our monthly bill down to £35.24. :money:
    This consists of:
    TV = Family pack + Sky Sports
    Phone = Talk Unlimited
    Broadband = 1 Meg

    The above is valid for 12 months! :T
    I'm well chuffed as it's a monthly saving or nearly £10! :money:

    Hubby said I might end up getting the sack now for being on the phone that much to get that deal lol

    That's great. Do you mind me asking asking how you managed to get the above for £35.24 (and how you were only paying £45 before)

    I'm currently paying £68 per month for the above!

    This consists of :
    TV = Family pack + Sky Sports Collection - £46
    Phone = Talk Unlimited - £4
    Broadband = 1 Meg - £18

    It souns like you're getting free broadband, which i'd certainly br interested in discussing with our friends at NTL!

    Any help much appreciated

    Nigel.

    I am so annoyed with NTL, i rang up a while ago and was offered 10 mb for £17.49 a month ,when i asked how long the offer would last i was told it was ongoing.This morning i have recieved a bill for the full £34.99,When i rang i was told the offer was only for 3 months!Not what they said the first time!Anyway i have been trying to ring retentions this morning Only to either get the engaged tone +recorded message then cut off or being on hold for around 5 minutes then hearing a message that i am in the home movers queue:mad: I have tried over 20 times now ,their customer service is appalling.

    That's bad re getting hold of CS - I've had the same re the price. When I phoned they sorted it out for me (no refund, but put the next 3 months at half price).

    Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
    I have 1M broadband & basic telephone service.
    My reduced rate offer has just finished. I was paying £9.99 for broadband & the telephone was FREE! (which I was not aware, till I asked them that why I was not getting billed for it!!!).

    I got my new bill which is £17.99, so I rang them & was told that it has reverted to normal rates i.e. £17.99 for 1M broadband + £11.00 for the basic telephone.
    I told them that this was more than I can afford, so he offered me the broadband for £9.99 for 6 months, but did not mention about the telephone.

    So, I replied that I was looking for a 12 months deal, to which he replied that I can ring again in 6 months time to see what they can offer at that time. But I said, I will think about it.
    Then, a couple of days ago, I got a phone call from their marketing people & I told told them that I was not happy of the tariffs. She told me to ring their customer service who will reduce it to the same level as I paid last year.

    So, I rang their customer service & told her that their marketing people told me to ring customer service who will set it up same as last year. To my surprise, she said no problem & it has now been set up!!!.

    I still will be keeping an eye on my direct debits !!!!!!
    Hope that this runs smoothly, as I am quite happy with their service. (Don't tell them this !!!).

    My Deal:

    Was on 4MB BB @ £12.49 for six months

    Now:

    4MB BB + Telephone + Unlimited 24/7 calls @ £18.00 for six months.

    Have been told that the system will not allow to offer deal for 12 months but if I ring in six months time, they'll give me the same offer for another six months.

    Any truth in this claim of system problem?
