  • I am with Telewest and similar to Mr G wondered what the best deal was- i had the 2mg Broadband plus starter tv for £14.99 for 1 year. When I enquired about a price for the end of the contract i was told it will be £17.99 for the broadband and £5.50 for the starter tv. I have freeview so told them I wished to cancel and go elsewhere- result was that they gave me the tv for free for a year (not really worth it apart from teleport which I use occassionally) and after 10 mins of haggling they offered only for 6 months though the broadband for £9.99 per month.

have I snapped off their arm to quickly in accepting or could i have got better?

I was getting my B/Band for £9.99 should be £17.99 and my phone line for £5.50 should be £11. On my latest statement everything went up to the normal price, I was expecting that, was a one year deal. I gave them a ring, they don't have the freephone number any more it's an 0845 number now, rang the 0845 number put me in a queue and said it would be 10 minutes, last time it said that it was over 25 minutes so hung up. Phoned up later and used the 0800 digital TV sales number, it had an option to put me to customer services, it said I should use the 0845 number in future(I don't think so). Speak to someone quickly. Q. Can I have my line rental at £5.50 I'm a low user. A. let me just check..... No sorry we don't do that anymore. Me Ok. fair enough but BT do a low user service so I'll probably switch to BT. Reply, let me just check with my supervisor....... the best we can do is £6. Me That's Ok but now about my B/B. He interrupts me and says he's already put the price down to £9.99 for another year. I like it.

    AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

i've just come off a 12 month broadband deal of £9.99 per month so i called them up just now.

I called the 0800 052 9403 retentions number given earlier and said i'm thinking of leaving cos my deal has just ended on broadband. he said we can put that back on for you.... so he did for 12 months.

Then i said a friend of mine says you offer cheap line rental for low phone users at £5.50? (i rarely call over £1 per month) He said we do offer that, i can put you on it too... he looked into it & said line rental is £3.83!!!!!

I then asked if this could all be backdated to my last bill & he said no, but he would add a £10 credit onto my bill next month :D

    so now i have
    1MB broadband £9.99
    Line rental £3.83
    Total £13.86

i'm so amazed :D Big thanks (again) to you & others in this thread :)
  • Due to this great site I managed to get a very nice deal with NTL.

I called them up on the 0800 number and option 3. I had to wait for about 20 minutes before I could speak to somebody but it was worth the wait.
I told them that I had a good offer from Sky for the Broadband packages (use Sky digital for my tv viewing) just come through the post and that also my local exchange is going to be Talk,Talk enabled by the end of August (truth), and could they do me a deal? because I would rather save any hassle and stay with them because overall I was happy with the quality of their service.
They upped my 4 meg at £24.99 over to 10 meg for £17.49 a month and moved my phone line rental down to £5.50 a month. This arrangement is guaranteed for 12 months. The other good thing is I did a speed test on my connection about 15 minutes after getting off the phone and it had already upgraded without even needing a reboot, and on a 120 modem too.

I had a 1MB line with phone with free local off peak calls for £25. I finally rang them after reading this thread (as I only just started their broadband services in Jan 06). I quoted them the Talk Talk offer and they said they can offer me 4MB and Talk 24 which is free national and local landline calls all day for £20. :money:

I pushed him for an 8MB line but he said that he couldn't do that but in 2 months time they will offer a similar offer for all customers.

    :j :j

Good Luck guys and make that call
  • got the £9.99 offer again for the next 6 months. Customer service advisor said fone back after 6 months & they would look at my account again :)

however, when i was first placed on the £9.99 offer originally, they said it was only for 6 months then, but it actually stayed on the account for a year, so I'll wait and see.

    Hi

I have moved to my new flat and i want to get the 4mb broadband, is there anyway i can get a good introduction offer.

Rang them up and they said the best that can do is £24.99 a month as i'm not getting a phone line.

    Any ideas.

    Thanks

I haven't got a ntl telephone line either. What is their excuse for not putting you on an introductory offer just because you are not needing their phone service?
