They said to me that they don't do offers on just the broadband only if you have a phone or tv or all services so I'll remember this when my daughter tries to get an offer. Shes only just signed up I pressume its a 12 month contract and she wont be able to try for the first 12 months can she.
They used the excuse that they are the only provider that lets you have just the broadband on its own without having to have a phone. They said with everyone elses offers you have to pay a phoneline rental on top.Thanx

Ntl offered me £9.99 a month for 12 months broadband if I satyed with them. I only have their broadband service.
I think what they mean by paying a telephone provider is, if you ain't with ntl, other providers need connection to a live bt fone line. I have my bt line switched on as they are currently my phone service, even tho' I use Primus/1899/18185.0 -

A year on, I've just been put back on the £17.99 month package. If I telephoned again and requested they reduce my internet charge per month as there was more competion out there, any chance they would reduce it, or offer me a good deal??
Absolutely - I do it every 3 months with success each time.0 -

I would just get a wireless hub. Less than £50 now and you can connect to it dead easy. I have a laptop and another desktop running of it int he house.0 -

Really?? So what exactly do you say to them?? What type of offers have they given you?? I need to know the score, so they don't con me when I telephone ntl.
Oh by the way, what department do you speak too.0 -

I rang 0800 052 9403 the customer Relations number ( leaving option ) and after a year of 1 meg broadband at £9.99 got it extended for a further 6 months at the same rate. I just mentioned competition but having moved from their tv a year ago to freeview they knew, or thought, I wasn't bluffing about moving. At 9am there was no wait on three different occasions and still a freephone number.
Usual awful ntl customer service then messed the billing up and £17.99 turned up so I contacted the people on above number again free and they sorted it with billing. I got an e mail confirming the deal from them when I asked.0 -
Brilliant Rogerb. I'll telephone first thing tomorrow. Hopefully, I'll get the same offer0

Hi - check out my very first thread on this post. When I first started this, the lady said to ring back every three months to check the latest offers. Sometimes when I do this they say there is nothing on at the moment. I explain what was said previously and the same code has been used before. This usually does the trick. If not ring back, someone else usually helps. Failing that, get a couple better offers from elsewhere and say you're leaving because of a better offer at ..... Basically keep trying - I haven't failed since I starting doing it a year or so ago!0 -
I spoke to NTL in May regarding my telephone/Broadband account.
They reduced my monthly payment from £31 to £23 per month for three months and told me to phone back at end of July to find out whether they could continue this price. I'd told them I was considering changing to Talk Talk.
Phoned back today to advise them that since that phone call they had only charged me £8 in June and nothing at all in July. The lady I spoke to said as it was their error they would not charge me for the difference.
Unfortunately, things deteriorated when I asked her to confirm that I would continue to be charged £23 in future. She said no, and would not budge on £31.99 for 4meg broadband and phone. I've retired to lick my wounds but will phone again next week in the hope of reducing this.0 -
There has been a lot of talk about NTL but has anyone got Telewest to reduce there costs ?
Im shelling out around £50 per month for 4mg BB, Landline & Cable TV plus calls.
Now with Sky in the picture do you think I will be able to get a reduction from them ?
Problem is if I more to sky the costs are
TV - £36
BB - £10
Ph - £16
£62
