Sorry don't understand:o .
You obviously don't really want to leave your current ISP due to using their e-mail accounts, so they have you by the balls. Use ISP independent e-mail accounts and this is never a problem when changing ISP's. I think of ISP e-mail accounts as junk mail accounts. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

To echo espresso, I use my Virgin, Yahoo (got through signing up to Freecycle) original Tiscali dialup etc accounts for anything that may result in spam. Touch wood never had a persistent problem.
I use gmail for the important things.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
Hello People
I had one question
I am planning to join Virgin Media
I would like to know how much would be the cost for the folllowing deal or package
TV Basic
Broadband XL
AND ALSO ON THE WEBSITE IT STATES THAT PHONE IS FREE WITH BROADBAND so is that included on this deal which I am asking about or would it be seperatly charged.
Thank You.0 -
Still not had a call from the retentives yet! Hope it comes soon!Called Virgin Media on 0800 052 0870, got through to a guy who was OK, but was not offering me anything besides the deals on the website. He basically said it's £18 for 2mb bb alone or £15.50 for 2mb bb + phone so that would be cheaper  which doesn't make sense really. I told him I have a virgin mobile so can I get 2 for £20 like they used to do (mobile + BB). He tells me "no", virgin mobile is separate. Huh???
I gave him the 30 days termination notice. He asked for my mobile number for their "records" which I happily gave himso hopefully get a call from the retentives in the next few days/weeks.
Currently I have a Sky dish for the free channels and do not have a landline as I use VoIP for calls. So I am only looking for a cheap BB deal. If I get a cheap bb + phone deal I will take it so if virgin offered me 2mb bb + free anytime calls (XL) package for £15.50 that would be OK as I spend about £3-5 on VoIP calls a month. But it would not be worth it for me to pay £15.50 for just the free weekend only (M) package + BB!
So what is the cheapest I could pay for the following :-
1) 2MB BB standalone without other services (desperate housewife has mentioned £4.50 but I am not entirely convinced that she got this as a standalone product for £4.50. If this is the case please write back desperate housewife). I have also seen someone (Spikey??) on here get it for £9 which I am aiming for. Think he may have got a phone in for this price too!
2) 4MB BB - heard that it's £12.50 half price from retentions so I would go for this is I can get it for this price.
3) 2MB or 4 MB BB + XL phone - A year ago I got offered XL TV + XL (I think) phone + 2MB BB for £19.99 which I refused, so 2MB BB + XL phone for £15.50 seems feasible. Who is paying the cheapest price for this????
Your thoughts please......
Ps: My haggling tools for the above are the previous posts in this thread plus the info below:
sky's 2mb bb + free evening and weekend calls will cost me £11 for BT line rental,
TalkTalk 8Mb bb + evening and weekend calls £16.39,
Tiscali 8Mb BB + free weekend calls for £14.99 etc
The sky is a killer, anyone again know of anything cheaper that I could use to haggle?!0 -
I had the discount from Virgin a year ago taking my broadband from £18 a month to £10 a month. Had an email a week or so ago saying that my direct debit would be going out shortly for £18. I phoned today, was transferred to customer relations, spoke to a very nice guy and explained I was given the deal a year ago and was told I had to phone back after the 12 months if I wanted to negotiate another deal. He said that he could give me a permanent discount that would take my billl to £15 a month. I told him I rather liked the £10 a month! He did ask if I had TV or phone as there were good deals to be had that way - explained I have BT for my phone as I work from home one weekend a month and the company I work for pays my line rental, and I have a freeview box and really don't have time to watch much on TV anyway!
He then did a little bit of tapping on his computer and I have my £10 deal for a further 6 months :T0 -

I've just been offered exactly the same.
I'm 2mb BB only, I did ask the length of contract.
I did wonder if he meant 6mths@£10 then 6mths@£18, but he assured me it was a 6mth contract.
Can I believe him?

Its fair to say that generally you do not get offered the £10 deals when you are in contract. As far as I am concerned, I am on the 6 month/£10 deal and I can leave when I like (as my 12 month contract is long gone). I have not been told otherwise or signed anything to the contrary.0 -

Just an observation,
On the pages on this forum there are lots of posts from people who have agreed to a new deal over the phone.
They later find that by accepting the deal they are deemed to have accepted a new contract.
I specifically asked if it was a new contract and for how long. Yes and 6mths.

I was also told to phone in 6mths to see what they could offer.Move along, nothing to see.0
