Virgin Media Retention thread

Saeed, can you keep us posted, because I only have BB.
My first year finishes in a couple of months, I've been pleased with the service and would be happy to keep paying £10/mth.
So will be interested to see what you can get.
Called Virgin Media on 0800 052 0870, got through to a guy who was OK, but was not offering me anything besides the deals on the website. He basically said it's £18 for 2mb bb alone or £15.50 for 2mb bb + phone so that would be cheaper  which doesn't make sense really. I told him I have a virgin mobile so can I get 2 for £20 like they used to do (mobile + BB). He tells me "no", virgin mobile is separate. Huh???
I gave him the 30 days termination notice. He asked for my mobile number for their "records" which I happily gave himso hopefully get a call from the retentives in the next few days/weeks.
Currently I have a Sky dish for the free channels and do not have a landline as I use VoIP for calls. So I am only looking for a cheap BB deal. If I get a cheap bb + phone deal I will take it so if virgin offered me 2mb bb + free anytime calls (XL) package for £15.50 that would be OK as I spend about £3-5 on VoIP calls a month. But it would not be worth it for me to pay £15.50 for just the free weekend only (M) package + BB!
So what is the cheapest I could pay for the following :-
1) 2MB BB standalone without other services (desperate housewife has mentioned £4.50 but I am not entirely convinced that she got this as a standalone product for £4.50. If this is the case please write back desperate housewife). I have also seen someone (Spikey??) on here get it for £9 which I am aiming for. Think he may have got a phone in for this price too!
2) 4MB BB - heard that it's £12.50 half price from retentions so I would go for this is I can get it for this price.
3) 2MB or 4 MB BB + XL phone - A year ago I got offered XL TV + XL (I think) phone + 2MB BB for £19.99 which I refused, so 2MB BB + XL phone for £15.50 seems feasible. Who is paying the cheapest price for this????
Your thoughts please......
Ps: My haggling tools for the above are the previous posts in this thread plus the info below:
sky's 2mb bb + free evening and weekend calls will cost me £11 for BT line rental,
TalkTalk 8Mb bb + evening and weekend calls £16.39,
Tiscali 8Mb BB + free weekend calls for £14.99 etc
The sky is a killer, anyone again know of anything cheaper that I could use to haggle?!0 -
I can guarantee that with talk talk and tiscali and the 8mb, you probably get at least 2mb at best.0

I am with Virgin Media formerly Telewest and was paying anything between £35-£45 pm for broadband and home phone. I called retentions and explained that TalkTalk were offering the same package for £16.39pm. Why should I stay?
Virgin then gave me the same package for £15.50pm!! I have a few extras like caller ID etc taking it to £20.00, still a great saving. Result!0 -

Hi This is what we negotiated last april. I just tried to get it down lower but they wouldn't give any more discount. Said we already have a really good deal.
What do you think shall I have another go?
Line rental £11
Talk eve & wk £3.45
Talk mobile £1.50
TV XL £20.50
BB XL £37
Loyalty pack BB Phone tv 3D sky Minus £24.95
Tatal £48.500 -
Also does anyone know what 3 D Sky is ????
Thanks0 -
Did you get a free install with the V+ box , as I have no tv box at all only a phone line with them so will I get a free V+ box has i'm having the xl tv package.
Hi
Well I had the TV box sockrt there so I got a free install - I would aim at free install and V+ box with 12 month XL package - could settle for a £30 install max though0 -
Has anyone heard of a company called vonage offering free local, national and international calls to 15 countries for 7.99 per month?0

I've just had a letter from Virgin Media saying they are increasing our service costs by £3 a month from 1st June. We currently have a loyalty pack (which I negotiated last year) of Telephone Line Rental, Broadband Size L and TV Size L for £30.50 a month including ebill discount of 50p per month. Is this still a good deal at £33.50 per month bearing in mind the broadband and TV size or can I get a better deal with TalkTalk for example. I am loathe to move away from Virgin because of e-mail addresses.0
