  • Rang 08000529403 and pressed option 2 (thinking of leaving). Told them of the madasafish deal and that I needed to cut a deal with ntl: if they wanted me to stay. (I was going to stay with ntl: anyway, because I don't want the hassle of changing router, e-mail addresses, running phone line or ethernet from the phone point etc).

Result! Was on 1Mb @ 17.99 was offered free for 6 mths then £10.99, but opted for 2Mb free for 6 mths then £24.99 = £12.48 for the year. I'll now watch out for the 10Mb free upgrade then try and cut another deal in a few months.
  • Just made the call, "Well, we don't want to lose you as a customer, would you like 1mb for £9.99 for 12 months or 2mb for £12.50 for 12 months." I'll take option 2 thanks.

2 minutes, saved £66 and doubled my broadband speed.

    Too easy.

made the call yesterday, complained about the last year deal £30 (digi base pack, tel, 1MB B/B)for new customer, cs put me on the same deal for 12 months straight away( saving £9.49/monthx12=£113.88). like mark said : Easy

    thanks very much OP
  • Well, I made a call to ntl today to tell them I wanted to leave because of their incompetence (they had messed up my bills for the last 4 months), and got a great deal from them....

I was on 2Mb broadband and phoneline for about £34 a month. I got rid of the tv package last month because they annoyed me (I now have sky).

They have now offered me 10Mb broadband for £24.99 a month and this includes the phone line rental as well (inc Weekend and evening calls). They will do all this for me on the 25th when they are coming to collect the set-top box (which was already planned anyway). I told them I was going to go with Bulldog Broadband, and he matched and bettered their price on the spot.

So, MAKE THAT CALL - it has restored my faith in ntl now, so lets see how they get on now...
If the world is a stage... I want better lighting!

Just read the full post and hoping i not made a big mistake

I have been with NTL for around 3/4 years but only dial up till after christmas i decided to go onto broadband, i phoned NTL told them i was leaving to go with ulldog as they seemed to have the best deal at the time.

They convinced me to stay by offering me 2meg braodband plus free calls to 01 02 numbers 24/7 for 19.99 a month.
This seemed like a good offer till i phoned last week to be told they had credited my account by £60 and they would take £24.99 a month out of my account as the £60 takes it to only £19.99 over the year (if that makes sense) i told the operator that i hadn't been told that and although i was getting it for £19.99 a month in theory in practice there was still going to be £24.99 a month coming out of my bank account.

She told me i had agreed to the NEW contract over the phone and there was nothing i could do about it till next January.

Now for your help please was it a new contract or was it just an upgrade??
Will it still be worth ringing to see if they can do me a better deal??
  • thank you to all who recommended ringing NTL for better offers. I am an existing customer at the end of a 12 month contract. I told them i was defecting to Sky so they did this:

    a. Reduced my Broadband from £17.99 to £9.50 per month for a year.

    b. Put me on the Talk Unlimited phone plan for nothing each month.

    c. Reduced my TV package from £30 to £15 per month.

I am a very happy person now!

Small savings add up to big smiles........ :rotfl:

I just phoned ntl to ask if they could do anything about my broadband price - I am on the 2MB for £24.99 per month. Told him I had seen an offer from www.madasafish.com for 8MG per month for £11.99 per month. He checked and said he could give me my broadband for £9.99 per month and that in the next month or so they are upgrading to 10MG also. So glad I phoned! :j

Won't put me throught to retentions not even really interested in what i have to say, got an address to make a complaint about being sold a new contract when i was told it was just an upgrade and not being given the full information.

It seems once they've conned you to sign up you aren't as valued a customer as you are when you're threatening to leave
