after recieving some advice here about ntl costs ,my main worry was my telephone bills , so i gave them a ring and said i was about to get a bt line put back in as i was concerned about the high bills costs of mobile and land line costs
the bloke said he could hand me over to the retention dept but would like to offer me a deal first, i was on a thing called 123 tarif he changed me to 24 talk unlimited anytime for the same price so as i am new to this i agreed , i can always ring back in a few days time if not happy
have i got a good deal as i also have internet and basic chanels wth ntl , or should i have done better
also can any one tell me the difference between these two tarifs
i am new to this as you can see , but after saving £273 on gas /electric now this saving i find it hard to believe why i did'nt do this a long time ago
car insurance is next on my list
thank you in advance

Ring up today as I am on the 1Mb 17.99 Broadband package. Quoted the madasafish 8Mb ADSL @ £10.99 (then £16.99) and they dropped my NTL to £9.99 no catch still £9.99. Just saved £84 a year for a 2 min phone call.
This site is great!!!!!

Well done Joe and welcome to MSE and the Telephone Boards0 -
Hi,
A few months back, I needed to save money so switched down from 2Mbps when they agreed to put me on the new-subscribers-only offer of £30pm for 1Mbps broadband, phone and TV.
Now, I still want to keep my bills low, but I'm on the lookout for more, quicker broadband. Have seen the offers, ie. Madasafish, thanks to MSE, but, after reading this stuff, I want to angle for 10Mbps...
Frankly, I want to jack my phone service in as, with so many free minutes on my mobile contract, I really don't use the landline. And this is the main thing that's stopping me from going to ADSL (needing to have a BT landline contract I would't otherwise use).
Don't want to pay too much more than I am now, but happy to scrap the phone (even though they previously told me phone service is not divorceable from TV - really? any word on that?).
So, I guess I'll phone up and see what, if anything, can be done. Will post if anything happens. Any tips welcome.0 -
I just called NTL to get my 1mgb down from £17.99, offered to put me on a phone package, unlimited evening calls, I dont want as have free mobile minutes, and after that extra charge will save me £3 a month. Said £9.99 deal last year, its now £14.99.
Is it worth calling back and does anyone know if these unlimited calls include mobiles.0 -
bowman wrote:Hi . . having read the threads on NTL I called them today as I have been with them for a few years now. Currently I have 2MB for £24.99 per month and said that there were cheaper deals elsewhere and what could NTL do to reduce my bill. She said most deals are for 1MB and are only for introductory periods and that I had the best deal going currently with NTL and fobbed me off
anyone else on this package that managed to get a reduction?
I am gutted as all excited I could save money, but dont think £3 is much when so many others here are getting their £17.99 down to £9.99.
I want that too. Seeing as missed out on Barclays £100 bonus on current account too. Is it me????0 -

Yes. I have 2MB and a phone line (no TV), and this year they have given me a free phone line for 12 months (a discount of £10.50), so the bill for both is £24.99.
I just enquired what the procedure was for cancelling, and when asked told them that Plusnet were doing 2MB for £14.99 and that I would not be needing my NTL line as I would need a BT phone line for ADSL (although I would not save any money between NTL and BT).
They initially offered the 2MB for £17.99 and when I didn't take them up, they came back with the offer of free line rental for 12 months. You must sound as if they are likely to loose a customer, rather than someone just after a discount.
This is the second year that they have offered a deal to keep me, and at the end of 12 months I will see what they offer again.
What NTL don't realise is that I don't have a BT line in the house, so I am stuck with them anyway unless I pay for BT to install a line.0 -
After reading this thread phoned up today and managed to get my £17.99 1mb reduced to £9.99 for 12 months.
I rang 08000529403 and pressed option 2 for if you are thinking of leaving.
She told me that the speed was going to increase to 10 mbs in the summer and I would have to ring again then to keep it on the £9.99.
Hope this is of help to someone.0 -
I have 2mb with ntl and paying £15.50 pm. Rang them to say I was thinking of leaving and they reduced it to £10.50 pm, but said that they would upgrade to 10mb in the next two months, but that price would remain for 12 months.0
