We've just signed up to VM and sorted out the deal we wanted which was V+ with XL TV and an extra box. You couldn't mix n match the deals online, so we just ordered the 3 for £30, V+ (£5/mo) and a spare box (£5/mo), total £40/mo with half price install (£75). We got £30 online discount for ordering the phone/bb/tv together, also did it via Quidco for £55 referral and then when they emailed for the install money, asked them to upgrade the TV to XL (extra £9 mo but then no £5 V+ supplement, so worked out to £4 mo extra). Finally ordering a Virgin (stooz) Card and their offering £40 off your Virgin Media bill until end Feb 2008.
A good package with total discounts of £125 on top of the bundle/install discounts.Signature on holiday for two weeks0 -

I love this forum! I was on L Broadband (4 meg), phone and free tv package for £27 pm (negotiated a £9 discount before thanks to this thead).
Decided I fancied V+. Called the sales line first, they wanted £20.50 extra per month from me to upgrade to V+ on the XL tv package. Would not negotiate at all despite me insisting.
Then called retentions, lovely girl there had a great chat with her really friendly. She has done me L Broadband, XL Tv, Phone and V+ box for only £10 pm more (£37). She also mentioned that L Broadband is being upgraded to 20 meg very shortly for free.
Am well happy, it gets fitted next Friday. Also fitting charge is getting added to next mths ddr didnt need to pay upfront and thanks to applying for a Virgin credit card, am due £40 credit on my bill anyway!

Hi everyone! I am currently with Sky for my Tv i have sky+ box and sky world package movies+sports, the old standard box is in my bedroom to get same chanels up there Paying about £48 a month for all that. My phone is with Talk Talk plan 3 unlimited landline calls 24/7 and i get free 2mg broadband i think i pay about £50 quid including calls i make (eek mainly to mobiles) vat and line rental.
I am annoyed that i have been with sky for years now and this company doesnt seem to offer existing loyal customers rewards like new customers. I have tried calling getting 3 month discounts over the years and whilst its nice its a pain in the bum ringing 08702 numbers and holding for ages trying to haggle constantly.
Im considering now switching everything broadband phone and tv to Virgin Media but obviously as a money saving consumer i obviously want the most i can get out of them for as little money as possible! lol:p
As for mobile phone im with 3 and got 18 months to go on my contract but that does me fine quite cheap and loads of free mins etc so im no bothered about getting mobile phone from virgin.
I want either like for like that i have now or obviously BETTER for cheaper can someone point me in the right direction on what to say to Virgin. I also want setana sports aswell lol well i dont OH does! im too busy at the kitchen sink lol ;)I have Tried to do price thingy on virgin web site and said what i want will be about £98 quid a month omgggggg! Thanks Sarah xxx:T This site is great! Thanks to Martin Lewis & everyone who participates and helps so many people! Without you all, where would we be ??:T

Hi!
Have rung retentions at Virgin Media today to see what they can do to cut down the cost of our package (currently £51.25 for XL TV, phone, M BB). They have offered us £30 for the three. Do you think this is a reasonable offer or have others managed to negotiate a better deal? Thanks in advance for any help.0 -
Phoned - I cancelled movies and sports.
Got:
XL TV (includes setanta),
M Phone
M BB
for £35.Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:0 -
Following my phone call to NTL yesterday, I thought I ought to make people aware. Seeing some other postings, I decided to try and get a better deal for my broadband. I'm on 2MB @ 24.99 a month and have been a customer for 2 years. I phoned, mentioned Tiscali equivalent is £17.99 and got 3MB @ £17.50 for 3 months. I explained that in 3 months I'll be in the same situation, so why should I stay? The lady explained that this is the best offer she can do at the moment - the offers change and to ring back in 3 months. So basically, if you ring every 3 months you can get the better deal all the time - the lady confirmed this with me. £17.50 for 3 MB of broadband is very good. I think it's £37 a month normally. I don't mind ringing every 3 months if I can get this sort of deal. Thought this might be useful for others.
Following your recent posts I feel slightly angered that so many of you are posting untrue information. As an employee of Virgin Media I would like to point out that the 2mbb is ONLY £18.00 the 4 mbb £25.00 and 20mbb is £37.00. As for current offers, We have several if anyone cares to visit the website all the relevant information and costs are there.0 -
Debt Ridden,
Please note the Post you have responded to is from 2005 so pricing has obviously changed since then.
However, having only just found this thread myself because I am also unhappy at the disparity between what I am paying for Virgins 2mb BB (M Level) and that of Virgins advertised pricing (Presumably only for new customers?).
What brought it to may attention is the opportunity to increase my BB speed as per Virgins latest promotion but only if I pay an even higher rate which makes the disparity even wider in my opinion.
I've sent a email to Virgin highlighting my concerns and await their response.0 -

They are not just for new customers its just they don't like to tell old and faithful customers about them they depend on apathy to increase their profits. If you phone retentions and tell them your not happy they do tend to make you a better offer"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."
