Debt Ridden,
Please note the Post you have responded to is from 2005 so pricing has obviously changed since then.
However, having only just found this thread myself because I am also unhappy at the disparity between what I am paying for Virgins 2mb BB (M Level) and that of Virgins advertised pricing (Presumably only for new customers?).
What brought it to may attention is the opportunity to increase my BB speed as per Virgins latest promotion but only if I pay an even higher rate which makes the disparity even wider in my opinion.
I've sent a email to Virgin highlighting my concerns and await their response.
Your best bet is to ring retentions. Research the better offers and mention that you are thinking of switching to a company with better value. They should then offer you 2Meg for £10. That's what I got a couple of month ago.0 -

probably not the best but i pay £39 for XL BB & TEL inc itemised bill if it helps with the hagglingNever pass up the opportunity to take a pee!:p0 -
Retentions ALWAYS the best way to go. I have tried thru cust services/sales and they never negotiate.
Retentions have the ability to knock large amounts of your bill on an ongoing basis.
On the whole I am really happy with Virgin but dont like the fact customers are mugged for money unless they complain and then suddenly discounts become available. I have been with ntl/virgin for over 10 years and dont like feeling like i have been taken for a mug.0 -
Have just reduced my bill again with them.Call retentions on
0845 4541111 or 150 (option 2, thinking of leaving) and they have powers to discount.
I was paying £64 (£25 Broadband, £20.50 XL tv, £18.50 phone), now reduced to £41.95, reduction of £22.05. It's for a new 12 month contract I had no intention of ending anyway. Just said how long I had been with them, happy with service, just too expensive. Then just do it every year for as long as you like.Annabeth Charlotte arrived on 7th February 2008, 2.5 weeks early0 -
Ive been with Sky for years and want to go to Virgin i negotiated a package with a helpful bloke then i flamin failed the credit check. I pay my sky bill by dd and paid every month .. anything i can do to get Virgin to let me go with them regardless of my credit status failiour

:T This site is great! Thanks to Martin Lewis & everyone who participates and helps so many people! Without you all, where would we be ??:T
:A The days are long, but the years are short! Cherish every moment, you blink that moment is gone forever  :A0 -
I've just had Virgin broadband & phone for £15.50/month connected, but I forgot to go through quidco for the £55 cashback. Is it possible/advisable to cancel the contract and reconnect via quidco? I had a letter from them saying I can cancel within 28 days for a complete refund.0

From the end of this month (January), Virgin Media intend on removing the ability to apply or reapply for special deals like this from their customers to bring more ‘structure’ to their charges and policies. They are pulling back on any flexibility they may have on enticing customers to stay with them. I for one have decided that if they do this they are not worthy of my custom any more. I would therefore like to raise awareness to this and take as many customers as possible with me when I go.

I wont be leaving Virgin, they are the only provider availalble where you don't need a phone line, might just have to downgrade or something.0 -

And where exactly has this been announced? Cant find any other mention of it anywhere or is just the rumour mill as is often the case?
Personally I think Virgin are fantastic. Get gr8 speeds on my 4 meg broadband (soon to be upgrade to 20meg for free). Just got my V+ box installed as well today and what an absolutely fantastic piece of kit. Well impressed, I certainly wont be going anywhere else0 -
