Is anyone able to advise me if this is a good Virgin Media Retention deal (previous retention posts seem to be very dated and I'm unaware if the offers have got better or worse) as I'm keen to get a V+ box but not keen on coughing £150 for a box I wouldn't actually own.

    Telephone Line Rental: £11.00
    Talk Unlimited: £7.95
Loyalty Pack: -£22.50 (this is the retention element)
    TV Size: XL: £20.50
    Broadband M: £18.00
Goodwill: £4.95 (due to cancelling various Sky channels)
    Total: £30.00

    It's on a rolling 30 day contract.

Ideally I would have additional box in my room, V+ in the lounge and my broadband increased. I'm believe I currently get a good deal but I may be wrong so am seeking confirmation really, seeking ammunition (not literally) for their retentions dept'.

does this include the V+ and the additional box??

That sounds liek a very good deal

    I am currently on:

    Talk Unlimited
    XL BB (20mb)
    CallerID
    £51.70 a month

Gave a call there trying to get a better deal with tv as I knew I may get a better package and I was offered:

    Talk Unlimited
    L BB (4mb)
    CallerID
    XL TV
    £44.95

    Not a particularly great offer.
They also said I could have V+ for a one off fee of £75.

May need to start looking around at other providers
    Cheers,

We have just moved to a new flat where it seems cable was used before ( checked our flat number on the Virgin website )

Tried BT but they want the £125 connection fee so no thanks, but a shame really as I would have had a BT line and O2 B/band.

Are Virgin good with new customers?
I was going to go with 4mb B/Band and “L”package for the home phone line ( don’t need TV package as we have freeview )

Comes in around 25 a month, does that sound good? Or should I sacrifice 4mb for 2Mb/band as watching the gadget show about b/band speeds the other day I’ll probably get around 2mb anyway?!

    Any suggestions?

With Virgin, (IIRC) you usually get the speed specified because its cable so not dependent on distance from BT (forgot their name) substation?!?!?

But then doesnt the speed you get depend on how many other people in your area also have virgin as an isp and who are on the internet at the same time as you

But you also have to take into account their Traffic Management policy. See

    http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/internet/traffic.html

For example, if you are on the 2Mb:
Any users hitting this amount (350MB) during peak times (4pm till midnight) will have their broadband speed temporarily traffic managed – their download speed will be set to 1Mb, with their upload speed set to 128Kb. This will last for 4 hours from when the traffic management policy is applied.

This is going to change slightly next year: AFAIR peak time will be from 4pm to 9pm but the traffic management will last for 5 hours.
