  • Morning!! I have a Sky TV package but my home phone and broadband are with NTL (managed to get the broadband charge down to £10 a month). I wanted to change my phone and broadband to Sky also. When I called BT however, they wanted £124.99 to reconnect the BT phoine line that was in the house before we were!!! Obviously there's no way I'll be paying this so will lose out on the Sky deals. Bit unfair methinks. BT also told me that last year they would've reconnected for free. Have a good day.

  • I've just taken advantage of a free TV upgrade (L to XL) on my 3 for £30 package. If others want to take advantage you need to act before midnight today.
  • I just called VM armed with some figures from Sky. Didn't even get to use them! I just asked could I get a better deal as in the 3 for £30 deal, new customers seemed to be getting what I was paying £42.50 for and they got XL t.v.
I was told to call back tomorrow (1st Nov) when they would have new deals for existing customers.

Did you ask for the Cancel option when ringing 150? Usually you select that, be put on hold for 20 mins or so, say you want to cancel because of cost and they immediately give you the 3 for £30 bundle.

I rang VM today there wasn't a problem with current customers taking up the latest offers, unless you were already tied an existing contract.

  • I phoned VM this morning and have now got the 4 for £40 deal. It means I now have a contract with them (hope that won't be a problem!?!) but it also means I have gone from L to XL tv, have 300 texts & minutes on a mobile per month and overall, pay £3 per month less.
I think (thanks to this site)I've done o.k, I guess time will tell!

Just phoned Virgin and told them where they could stick their contract having just put my bill up from £37 a month to £48. Phoned BT and they want £129 to reinstall a telephone line that their engineer removed when he couldn't be bothered to repair it when it became damaged! They all seem to be a bunch of thieving ratbags.
  • I'm in a similar position zolablue25, I'm only 5 months into a 12 month contract with Virgin but am moving to a newish build apartment (as a tenant), which is in a non-cable area. Virgin have told me they can provide the services but through a BT line but the apartment hasn't been connected to a BT line yet as the previous tenants didn't bother getting one installed, so I either have to pay £125 to get a BT line installed or cancel my Virgin services, which would cost me £210. I can't afford to do either, don't know what to do

    thnks.
  • Hi everyone just to say called today to see if I could sort out a package to take down my £60ish a month Virgin Media Bill using the tips and tricks from here. In case it helps anyone else I got
    BB -M
    TV - XL
    Tel - XL (Talk Unlimited)

all for £34.95 pm. Very pleased with this :)

There wasn't even really a discussion. I quoted the Sky offer but don't think I needed to, and then asked for the 3 for £30. he agreed this and then asked if it was worth upping the telephone package (it's only medium included in the 3 for £30). I had been just about to ask about this anyway. So I got this upgraded for the extra £4.95.

Like an idiot I dithered around doing this for a month or more so if you're dithering too just DO IT!

EDIT ought to have said this is fixed for 12 months
