  • I'm on the 3 for £30 deal (BB/TV/Phone) - the TV package is L.

Has anyone got this deal but with XL TV? From the site, it looks quite a jump to go from this to XL (I'm not so bothered about upgrading BB or phone)

I have this package with the XL tv. I rang retentions and asked for it (I was paying £38.75 for Mphone, MBB and Starter package TV) I am now saving £8.75 a month and having more TV channels.

I'm towards the end of my contract (I signed up with Telewest originally). At the moment I'm paying 32.50 a month for XL TV and Medium Broadband. I want to keep these services but add telephone to the package; I don't want any call deals as I don't make landline calls, just to receive.

I have a telephone line out already with BT.

What's the best deal I can negotiate with them?

    Regards
  • I have 4Meg broadband and phone service, and was paying £36 a month. Just called and played the "Orange will give me 8Meg and phone including BT Line Rental for £24 a month" card - got it down to £22.50!

Just had my latest "DD Email" - £50!!! They are starting to really get on my nerves. Thats without broadband! It was £32 last month!

Right - the £50 was for "Broadband only". Instead of crediting my account with £25 for this month the actually doubled my bill "accidently".

You really have to keep an eye out on this lot!!!

  • I was with NTL - now with Virgin Media, I don't think I have a contract.
    BB (M) £18.00
    TV L & PHONE £22.50
    Talk, evening and w'end local - £ 2.00
    Total - £ 42.50 + calls which are usually about £10

Virgin seems to be offering this + a mobile for £40 for new customers - anyone think I should be getting a better deal and advise me what I should ask ?

You should be paying £30 to get BB (m) TV xl and Phone m so will save money and get more tv.

Phone them and say you want to cancel on 150 and they will give you the offer. If you want the mobile as well then go for the £40 deal.
  • Quick question do virgin charge for line rental on cable, we belive we are on cable for the phone but get charged 11 per month on top of 9.995 for call unlimited.

Correct - they do charge line rental then the telephone package on top (or look at it another way, they dont charge but the packages are more expensive) http://allyours.virginmedia.com/websales/service.do?id=3

either way you are paying the advertised price unless you ring and negotiate a discount

    good luck

  • i have just spoken to vm and got nowhere, we are on tv(l) and bb 2meg (originally 2 for £20 but with a tv upgrade after complaining), we had a discount applied for 6 months which brought the bill down to £12, this has now expired, so i called them to try for another deal and got told that 2 for £20 was the best possible deal for me (as the tv should be size m not L).
he said that the new system does not let them apply discounts in the way it used to, they can only apply one discount now and i had it already!

i'm not sure, but i just think they dont want to play ball!!!

anyone had any better offers or success?

I am currently with VM and have the 20mb broadband, XL TV and Talk unlimited. I was paying £67 a month until I found out my sister was paying only £54 for the same package. I checked the website and the price of £54 is what all new customers will pay for that package. I called customer services and told them this but the said they could not do anything about it so I asked to speak to cancellations, once I got through I explained the situation to the guy there and asked him if I could cancel and sign up again as a new customer at the reduced price.

He told me that I didn't need to cancel and that he would set it up so I paid £54 a month. The only thing with this was that I had to go back into another 12 month contract but this is not really a concern for me as I really do like the service offered by VM. If I had not spoken to my sister or seen the website I would still be paying £67 a month for the same service others were paying £54 for that is my only worry regarding VM. They seem to reward new customers more than loyal existing ones (In march we will have been with NTL/VM for two years) which I don't think is very fair (I do understand that it is a way of gaining new customers but still.)
