Rang tonight as I am coming up to the end of my first year with VM and would soon be paying £18 for 2MB broadband. After only 17minutes hanging on the phone I pointed out that £18 for 2MB was expensive compared to Sky, Plusnet, Talk Talk and AOL. Straight away the nice lady offered me £10 for 12 months. I am well chuffed. For those who are putting off ringing VM don't riing them up and save money. I saved £96 for a 17 minutes phone call.

I was paying around 54 pounds per month to virgin for 2mb broadband phone (free weekend and evening calls)and base tv pack. I phoned asked for a better deal and was offered the same deal for £23.95.Great accepted. But on checking virgins web site I found the same deal for £20 (well nearly the same)once again got on the phone had a moan and was offered 2mb broadband phone with free weekend and evening calls and free tv for £13,95.Accepted this offer but am consumed with fear that I could go on and on until virgin are paying me to watch0

I would advise anyone asking for discounts or matching offers to record the phone conversations telling them that this call is recorded for your own records, and ask for the operators name, that way they cannot get out things to suit them saying they never said that or that they never offered that price, or lifetime offers.
I am going to call them up and see what best they can do, i recall seeing on this site free sky+ box and installation, plus sky are doing broadband, phone(free w/ends and evenings) and tv for £19, plus you get the free to air channels too.And yes the lady in the avatar is me

I was paying £36 for a landline and 4Mb broadband .. after 20 minutes on hold and a 5 minute conversation with a nice chap later I am now paying £26.95 for the same deal including Talk Unlimited and Talk International!
He was a decent fellow and offered me the choice of this retention bundle with a 12 month contract or a new customer deal which he said he could do without binding me in to another 12 months so I grudgingly have to give this customer services experience a 10/100 -
I pay £33.50 a month for 20Mb broadband, L TV and XL phone and V+ (I paid £150 to get he V+ installed though). I am still unsure how I got this. A friend with them managed it through their retentions team and I am very happy. Real world downloads are between 16 and 18Mb any time of day.0

I'm on virgin (old telewest) 2mb broadband paying £18pm, I thought I'd call retentions and try to get it reduced to £10 pm for a year as others here have done.
I was told there are no reductions available
Anyone got any tips ?
cheers

Try again. Ring retensions and tell them they are not competative with Sky, Plus Net, Talk Talk etc etc and just ask if they can offer you any discounts available for current customers. It must depend on who you get through to. The girl I spoke to did not even question it. She just said "I will see what we can do for you" and offered the £10 for 12 months. Good Luck. Don't give up!0 -

I just phoned VM and got £10 off just by asking. Now paying £35.95 for TV, phone and broadband! He asked if I was happy with the rest of VM and he took money off anyway!
Note - you need to speak to "dis-connections"

I have cancelled my Virgin Media package and am moving to Sky (gone with the best friend offer and Sky will pay my BT reconnection charge) but had a phone call today from retentions and they offered me XL TV, 2MB broadband, free 24 hour phone calls, Sky Sports for £48 per month and as an incentive to stay a free V+ box. Didn't take them up on their offer as I've had enough of them in the past 10 years and am looking forward to moving to Sky.
Hope this info helps someone else.0
