if they add the offers on only when they say they will send out a new 12 month contract does it mean that u have entered a 12 month contract other wise its just a discount added to keep u going to sky and bt

Yes i've been thinking about that £150 one off cost for a couple of month but never got round to do it. I will indeed phone them up soon for that. Was it not £100 rather than £150 for XL customers (or existing cutomers ??)

Yes it is in fact £100 for existing customers.
    http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/existingcustomers/v_plus.html

So i'll be £10 better off every month in 10 months

I just got through but offered an average package of £26.95 for 4mb broadband and line rental.

I have had previous deals of 10mb & line rental and talk unlimited for £20.

I also have sign up to a minimum 12 month contract which is new.

Need to switch I think - but who??? hmm

Ray1234 - Is there anything I can do to get a better deal than above.

    Ideally I want
    • Phone line rental
    • landline calls included
    • Broadband 4mb (or 20mb if it is only slightly more expensive.)
    • No new 12 month contract (I have been with them for 4.5 years)
    Thanks....
    Cheers,

  • I have been looking into switching/upgrading/adding-on call it what you like but basically looking to save money but also add on some services.

I have these services from Virgin Media (previously being a Telewest customer for 7 years!)

    Telephone line rental £11
2nd line rental £11 (husband works from home - erggh!!)
Talk unlimited £14.50 (not sure what thats all about but they recommended it)
    Starter TV package £5.50
    Broadband Size M £18.00

My kids want Discovery/National Geographic and husband wants Sports channels back after losing them when Virgin took over.

I have tried u-switch and various other methods but just keep putting it off. I spent half an hour on phone last night holding on at Virgin Media to be told I was through to wrong department and should call Customer Retentions but when I rang that number was told it was a further 15 minute wait so gave up.

    Any help much appreciated
  • Yes you can save a lot.
1st thing why do you have 2 lines from them? Consider taking vonage as second line. It runs on BB and voice quality is almost like telewest. much cheaper then £11 per month inclusive unlimited free call to any uk landline anytime.
You can get more detail abt vonage on MSE / internet or if u need any info I am happy to help you out as I am having their line for over a year now.
(your £11+ 14.50) should be 5.99 for 1st 6 months and then £8.99 with vonage

    BBM should be arnd £9-10

TV should be free with phone line.
just try to work it out and see if anyone has taken any deal like that and then make it as a baseline
    Goodluck

    Hi Guys,

Just thought I'd let everyone know about a phonecall I had with Virgin this evening.

I have been a telewest/virgin customer for 2 years, and am about to move house. I have only ever had an Internet service, mostly on the largest package, but for the past 4 months, I've been on 4mbit (£25/month).

I called the 'moving home' helpline earlier to arrange the transfer of my services, and toward the end of the call, I mentioned the current deal for new customers, which is £8-off a month. She said usually that only applies to people taking a phone service also, but she'd have a look.

From the sounds of things, she was searching through the special offers avilable on her system, and she found one that has now reduced my monthly payments to £27 (from £37) a month for the next 12 months. £120 discount :)

So a £10-off per month deal does exist. Ask nicely and you may be in luck :)
