I'm not surprised at all. When I ring up after this month if they say I have to go into another 12 month contract after being with them from the day they started in my area I will just cancel. It's got much worse since it became virgin mediaThanx

I just had a phonecall from sky but the phone went dead as I picked it up. I rang 1471 and o google it says sky. Wonder what they wanted. I cancelled a couple of months ago they rang me last month offering 10% off but I said I wasn't interest unless it was at least half price no contractThanx

why are you paying so much for these services.
the provider I use gives a package with 8mb broadband, line rental and weekend calls all for just £19.99 or £27.99 if the exchange isnt LLU (whatever that is).
chuck in your gas, electricity and mobile and you get all normal landline calls for free - how good is that. :T
I cant find them on these dodgy switching sites, probably because they wont pay them to switch you.
they dont tie you into a minimum contract either.
Did you know NTL charge you 6p connection charge PLUS the call charge so if the answering machine cuts in it has just cost you about 8p. Thats why my brother is swithing from them
they can be found on https://www.saveonline.org.uk
You don't need a phone line to have cable broadband though and then you can use the internet to make phone calls (quite often for free) so technically you only have to pay for the broadband which you can get half price, we only pay £17.50 for a 10mb connection and have no landline at all.0 -
Spoke to Virgin Media about a new deal on Friday, present one is coming to an end.
Passed around three people which took about 60 minutes, third one then said we cannot beat your present deal which is
4MB BB
Talk unlimited
base pack tv
£23.49 /month
But it is coming to an end as it was taken in May 2006.
Best deal that she could come up was £40 for the above. So told her that I did not need talk unlimited as my phone charges are rarely over £2-£3 a month and that the BB service is useless rarely getting above a 1.5MB speed. Mentioned that I have a couple of freeview boxes in the house (truth)which don't need rebooting constantly and that I could get free Orange BB with my mobile phone, also Sky were doing a good deal which I am seriously looking at.
She mentioned that she would pass me on to someone else, turned out to be Tech support to try and fix my BB speeds!!!!
Will have to get back to them early next week as I can see a large monthly bill appearing at some time in the coming months!!!!
Typical rubbish service..Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -

was offered today half price broadband and free tv and e/w phone discount for £23.95 I beleive only for a certain time!
Asked agent whether better going througth to retentions and he said yes
Retentions said that the offers will be dropped for the loyalty offers. Here are those loyalty offers they offered me
£27.95- phone e/w tv-L-bb (2mb)
£34.95- same as previous but with 4 mb
£35.00- same as previous but with xl tv
£41.95- same as previous with talk unlimited
£53.96- same as previous with 10 mb bb
i took in the end £19.95 for -2mb broadband which is possible to trial the 4mb
-telephone and 24/7 calls to 020 numbers
-television on free option which has a few channel less than the standard option but its free! (my daughter not too happy
How does this compare to everybody else?0 -
Does anyone have a deal with Virgin just for the broadband package? I'm looking to speak to them just for this, and previous experience tells me that this is not going to be an easy deal to find.
They insist on getting a telephone package with them, which I am not too keen on as it seems to have a lot more charges associated it with it than my current supplier.
Any ideas?
If you're not doing so already, call them on this number: 08000 529403 - it takes you directly to the customer retentions team. Speaking to them politely I got my 2mb broadband only package at half price for 3 months, and was told I could call back when the 3 months was up.
Be prepared for a wait though - the lines don't appear to be well manned.Energy prices are rising fast so if you like my comment, thank me quickly so you can shut down your computer sooner..! And if you believe Al gore you'll be doing your bit for the planet0 -

I have 10 meg XL broadband at 1/2 price for 17.50 per month plus around 3.70 off as i dont have a DD setup but they still add the £5 on the bill and have to renew every 3 months0
-
How much does half price work out for you?
I haven't being billed since making the arrangement, but it should work out at £9 - unfortunately tho, I can't pay by DD, because the bank will cancel it when I'm late making a payment (which happens due to poorness), so I'm penalised £5 for that (which stinks)!
Still, it's the best I can get without paying BT to install a line.Energy prices are rising fast so if you like my comment, thank me quickly so you can shut down your computer sooner..! And if you believe Al gore you'll be doing your bit for the planet0
