Phoned them up again, they said it is for 12 months. They said they couldn't make it for life but if I had a problem I should call customer relations to discuss it, but I think that would probably be a wasted call.
I'm fine with it being for 12 months, will just call them again then.

You should call customer relations there the ones who can make the deal permanent.0

I rang up to try and get those offers and they said they didnt exist I'm not happy about it
I'm on
xl tv
xl phone
m bb
for £34.95 a month
I rang to ask if I could swap to the same as above but reduce the tv to large they said they dont do that package with xl phone so cant have it only if i have talk evenings and weekends instead. according to the poster there they are paying £25 for that what i asked for L TV XL Phone & M BB
and the other poster on exactly the same as me now is paying £29.95 but I asked why are some people paying £29.95 when I'm paying £34.95 he said theres a mistake they must be on talk evenings weekends and they only have the offers hes told me and I wont get it cheaper
My only other option is to go to the free tv and pay £19.95 with xl phone and m bb
What else can I do to try and get them to drop it
I don't know how the caller that got the package for £16.50 did it but she was very luckyThanx

Rang again just now and they said the only reason people will be getting those deals cheaper is because the person who gave them the offer did something they shouldnt like adding an extra credit every month to get that total. She said they have been told they cannot add on any extra discounts at all from now on as some people have been getting it cheaper than others and they want it to be fairer and everyone pay the same. I said well if they were lifetime offers of course its still going to remain that some are getting it cheaper and remain unfair but she said at some point it will be rectified and they will have to pay the correct cost
I'm going to drop to the free tv after this month, its only in the bedroom anyway but the difference in the package with fam tv and free tv is £15 so I could consider at some stage maybe restarting the sky tv downstairs & the £15 can go towards that instead, if they give me an offer that is, I wouldnt pay full priceThanx

Sorry, I think you're doing it wrong.
Don't keep phoning back every 5 minutes.
If they don't give you what you want leave it a week/month, then phone back.
The deals I quote are individual Retention Deals to keep each customer & keep them happy.
Each person may get slightly better or worse deal.
These deals are a guide so you can see what others are getting.
Best to phone, say I'm thinking of leaving, I'm not happy with deal I'm getting because of TalkTalk, Sky etc, what can you do for me.
Don't start quoting/comparing with other people's deals, because they then know you just want price reduction & won't be leaving.
They don't want to give discounts or freebies unless they have to.
You want your own deal.
Main thing is to find helpful Retentions Advisor.
If they aren't helpful, make excuse, ring back day/week later.

Got a letter from them, the deal is not only for 12 months, I just got a new 12 month contract, so I have to stay with them another 12 months but the deal is permanent. Yay!0

Think you should pay £20-£25/month for this.
1) Phone back in future, find helpful advisor who offers closest deal to what you want.
2) Or downgrade below to £19.95 deal (if they offer) with Free Tv.
Then phone back 1-2 months later & ask to upgrade to L tv, only if upgrade cost is ok. Then they will upgrade TV for small cost (maybe £5/month)
So you'll be paying £25/month for what you originally wanted.

Thanx for the advice I'll try it but I do think they are changing now they are virgin media I expected it anyway. All of the reps said the same thing though.
Who else is doing good deals to move to though, I would consider moving if it was cheaper anyway. I have sky downstairs but ended my subscription and I could swap to bt as my phone was bt beforeThanx

Well there is the problem. If you had done a little research before phoning them and told them that you wanted to cancel because X were doing this package for £.. or Y were doing this package for £.. then they may have seriously thought that you were going to leave and offer you something to stay.
If you demand a discount price they will say no. You have to get them to want to offer you a discounted price. And the only way to do that is to come across as someone who will leave unless the price is right, rather than someone who wants to pay less but won't leave even if the price stays high.0
