Isn't the V+ box just a hard disk recorder ??

Won't renting monthly (£15/month) be lot more expensive than buying one yourself ??

It's £10pm and you can't buy the V+ box.. It does also include free maintenance.

It has a High Def ouput and 3 tuners . 2 things a third party hard drive recorder wont have . And its 2 of the main reasons I have one .

does it mean that the V+ box upscales the video signal to high def even if the original signal is standard def?

what I meant was that if I had a HD TV, would the V+ box give me a HD signal from a standard def channel?

No, you have to be tuned to a HD channel and your tv and box connected with a HBMI cable.

I am thinking of following your (all of you) example and get a better deal out of Virgin Media. How should the conversation go? Can someone give me an idea of what I should say to get the best deal out of them?

    I currently Have:

    TV XL - £20.50
    BB L - £25.00
    Phone M - £11.00

    Total - £56.50 a month

Clearly that is way too much compared to what people what negotiated.

Any tips on what I should say would be greatly appreciated!

See post #1272 with TV (size XL), 4Mb BB (size L), Talk Unlimited (size XL) for £29.45/month.

Phone Retentions, say you're not happy with service & value for money, you're thinking of leaving

-compared to new Virgin deals (3 for £30 etc.)for new customers
    -loss of Sky channels
    -deals by Sky & TalkTalk

Ask can they do better deal.

Try to get for £30/month with free upgrade to Talk Unlimited & maybe Talk Mobile/Talk International if you wanna push it.

If you don't get helpful Retention Advisor first time, make excuse leave it, phone back day/week later until you get someone who's on the ball, helpful willing to give you a good deal.

Check if there are any add-ons you want, as they may give for free or with discount (Talk Mobile, Talk International, Caller Display or other calling features).
